GLS 450
2017 GLS 450

The suv goes from D1 to D9 at only 60moh and the rpm needles barely moves. Shouldn’t it shift to D9 at a higher rate if speed and shouldn’t the rpm increase when accelerating?

Depends on how hard you push on the accelerator, and whether it's in sport mode or not.

Please rephrase. Are you saying the car shifts from D1 directly to D9 at 60mph?

Please use more words.

How long have you owned this vehicle, how many miles are on it, what modifications does it have and what service has been done in the past 12 months?

This SUV, just like all the majority are tuned for as much fuel efficiency the manufacturer can squeeze... the priority is getting to the highest gear as fast as possible... completely normal to be in 9th under 60mph... dont like it? Drive in S mode always.... locks out 9th... at the expense of more fuel consumption
