So I have a early build 2017 GLS 550 so it only has CarPlay and no AA. I have been using a Carlinkit 4.0 which works great except for phone calls don't work half of the time. So I am thinking about sourcing a Head Unit from a Salvage car, I know there will be a security Code that will be needed, I hopefully will be able to get that from MB with the VIN from the Vehicle it came from, might try to do that before purchasing, and if I can't get it maybe the Salvage yard can get it.
Anyway my question is this. When I look up a head unit on Car-part.com it gives me 6 IDs as choices. Are they all compatible with each other or do I have to confirm the ID of my existing, though I might not want that ID because if that ID is all early builds it won't have AA. How would I confirm the ID of my existing Head Unit.
Edit: I realize now those are the part numbers. A166900####
Are they just part revisions like we see with many other MB parts, and they are essentially the same thing?

I am new to MB but I will share the little info I have. I bought an early 2017 GLS450, build date 08/2016, and I also only had CrApple Play. I was able to enable Android Auto with my $800 Launch x431. Once enabled, I would get connected over the cable and get sound, but the car display would stay blank/black. The one european guy that sells the obd2 dongles to enable Android Auto specifically states that the firmware for Audio20 has to be upgraded. So I headed to my MB dealer and they updated the software for 200 bucks. The guys at the dealership were confused about my request and I had to be very specific about what I wanted done and why. Once updated though, the audio is like a completely new unit. Bluetooth connects for calls instatntly as soon as I start the car, and Android Auto, although wired only, is freaking awesome.

Do you have the PRO, Pro 3S, Pro V+... there are a bunch. I had been thinking of getting a new Xentry system. my current one is an old C3 that is really only good for pre 2013 cars.
I have an older Launch x431 V Pro. I had to look for a tutorial to enable Bi-directional support. I would disable the AutoStart, reload and it would be ebabled again. Once I chenged the config parameters for the software, I was able to write the coding to the car.

I wonder if the Launch could also enable the adaptive headlights. I have the Launch Creader which has been great for diag and some basic coding.
