Evap filter clogged, no tools on hand
After a 10 hour trip CEL came on, all I have is Launch Mercedes reader on hand and very, very basic hand tools. Looks like reason for CEL is P017F00 - 'The air filter in the diagnostic module for the evaporative emission control system is clogged'
Sounds fairly straight forward, but having trouble determining the location of the module it sits on top of. So far from what I can gather, its under the car somewhere near the fuel tank attached to the charcoal canister filter. Again, if I had access to jack/stands shop tools it would probably not be a big deal. ChatGPT references the left wheelwell but dont know if thats really accurate (and would be far too convenient to not have to lift the car and drop floor pans).
I reset the CEL, but if its actually clogged I am worried it might damage the Evap Diagnostic Control Module over time. I really don't want to take it to the dealership if it can wait, I am sure its something they will want to charge $1k+ to address the filter alone, god forbid the module as well. Last time I went to the dealership they were trying to charge $500+ for engine/cabin air filters which as we all know is a 10 minute job on the top of the engine bay.
Your thoughts, any experience with Evap system filter/clog issues on this platform?
Thanks,
Alex
