Agree. I think this interior, specifically the front dash does more harm to the Maybach "brand" than good. Definitely takes it down notch IMO. Bentayga is absolutely in a different class. All I see here are bragging rights.

It's like they tried to see how many logos they could get on the car. Logos = luxury?
Edit : Well, not as many as I thought. Only 8 Mercedes & 11 Maybach by my count (sure I missed some).

Very true with bragging rights. But when your in the front , all you see that’s different is the maybach symbol and a leather headliner. To be honest, all these leather options should be options on any level gls. Seems to me the only real differences are the seating in the rear, which I’m sure Mercedes could have just made it an option like the S class is currently, extra leather and wood which should be options and a fridge. I personally like amg models more, but it’s sad you can’t get extra leather and more luxury items as an option like you can on a S63,65.

Is anyone here disappointed that they didn't go with the V12 for this? I keep thinking or wishing that a GLS650 is on the way (NYC show in April) with a 600hp+ V12 and that it will introduce even more luxury options for the interior for both models. This won't go for nearly 200K. Other than the back seat it's not a huge upgrade over the GLS580. I'm thinking this should go for no more than 150K loaded up, and the V12 would be the 200K model. Probably not though. Somewhat disappointing if this is all they have planned for the Maybach GLS.

i couldn’t agree more. I was really hoping it would be a v12 or atea at the same horsepower as the 63. The front to me is the same as a 580. Only thing it has is a few more badges.

The exterior is too gaudy for my taste, but they nailed the interior. That is the interior (minus the Maybach badges) the GLS should have in the first place in my opinion (since it is supposed to be the 'S-Class of SUV's' yet it has the same interior as the GLE)

So you think that dash set up with the grab bars belongs in a 200K vehicle? How did they "nail" the interior? The dash is from a GLE, not an S. Other than the leather treatment there is nothing S about this vehicle. Take away the badging and what do you have? Personally I find the RR and Bentley interiors far better.

There is a reason they introduced the Maybach GLS in China. This car is a superb fit for the China market where everyone is driven around and the driver does not need the Maybach level of luxury. They will sell well in China and as livery in NYC but not as well elsewhere.

The only thing I like about this is the rear seats. As a whole, the car looks horrible. Everything from wheels to badges to dash just looks like someone went crazy with aftermarket products. Just doesn't seem fitting for a high end car.

I can see how it will fit China and livery service in NYC. I am from New York and my company pretty often picks me up in a S450 ( or XTS ) when needed. My wife is getting the GLE 450 and I think the dash is great for that truck. I think they did a great job on the GLE. Unfortunately , I think this year they really needed to break away from the GLE and do an all new S class for the GlS. Even if they did things like have the screens flush with the dash and wrap it in leather. I believe all this leather on the maybach should be options on the standard GLS.J understand the back seats are completely different so that might be hard to make an option. I love the truck but I think they needed to do a few more things to separate it and that’s with the dash it’s self. Also, is the new sound system just the optioned one in the regular models ? I understand it’s not a Bentley or rolls, but I still believe they are a few levels up from this. Design alone. I’ll prob wind up with the new bentayga. I truly want a loaded GLS with the maybach options but you can’t get that unfortunately

The best thing about the Maybach SUV is its auto running boards. Beyond me why this is not an option on the GLS450, if not even standard fare. Heck, even the Ford F-150 has these.

I find some of the interior complaints valid, but to me it would be primarily some of the switch gear. I am fine with the dash.
That said, it's almost comical of how the Bentley Bentayga is somehow portrayed as the standard to measure against. That car is ugly as sin on the outside and (to me) the dash looks terrible. At least these cars are deeply discounted and will lease for less than the Maybach.

I do agree with comments about the value; this car should top out at $170's given the current specs. A V12 is also not likely as the cost to adapt the old V12 to AWD would be too high.

Totally agree, Bentayga’s front fascia is a botched nose job looking thing. Just awkward. Cullinan, obviously, is gorgeous. Interiors in both of those are outdated and boring. I’m sure they’ll sell as many GLS 600’s as they can build, just because of bragging rights at the club-which is fine! Mercedes is making a wise marketing decision to make the architectural dollars max out.

Agreed that the Bentley on the exterior is not the most attractive looking vehicle. Some may even refer to it as ugly, no argument here. However the interior is definitely a notch or more above the GLS in terms of quality and luxury. Bentley has more of a bespoke feel to it whereas the GLS is more sterile and space age, along with cheaper plastics and a dash that is shared with a lesser GLE featuring a "snap-on screen". I don't think one can even compare the GLS with a Bentley in terms of interior finish, luxury or quality.

I test drove another Bentayga W12 today. Man, what an awesome driver. Great switchgear, very responsive, superb fit and finish. MSRP was $295K but this 2017 with 14K miles is $150K. The touchscreen infotainment system is very responsive and has more configuration options than COMAND and MBUX. The exterior is fine; I still prefer the GLS slightly, but the Bentayga is definitely better looking than the Q8, Atlas, Urus, Cayenne, X7, GLE, DBX, or Cullinan. In my eyes, of course.

They are all nice vehicles. The Cullinan has a lot to like. The interior looks stunning and the rear outdoor tailgate seats are an excellent idea.

Yeah, I have sat in the Cullinan and it is exquisite. But it is at $460,000 the equivalent of a GLS 63 and a Bentley Bentayga together. I would rather do the latter.

If you like the look of the car I think you found a winner!

The car has taken the brunt of depreciation of 50% and over $10 a mile! so you can pick up a very nice deal. While I am no fan of the dash, I love Bentley interiors overall and really like what they have done for the new Continental/Flying Spur. I hope they will re-design the Bentayga soon to bring the car to that updated design/tech.
That said, for people not interested to buy, the V8 versions here lease for what a GLS63 goes for.

I would check if Bentley offers an extended warranty as the factory one is expiring this week. Could make a difference in value too.

I completely agree on the exterior of the bentayga. Rumors from my local dealer is that the new bentayga orders will start in December with an August delivery. Of course it could be January or February. It is supped to have the new updated dash similar to the flying spur. When I compare the bentayga to the gls600, I’m comparing it to the hopefully new bentayga coming out. I don’t like the current dash and would get it. However, I am leaning towards the w12 2021 model. I was looking at the urus but backed out. Not enough rear head room and rather have a sports car. I have the gls 63 now love it but hate it that you can’t have the same options as a S class in the GLS 63. The maybach options should be available on lower tier.

Yeah I would love to see the DOG for this vehicle. If there aren't some bespoke colors they're failing at making it different from the 560 or 63 models.

Anyone see a DOG for this vehicle. Getting close to pulling the trigger on a bentayga ( orders for the new one is supposed to open up this month or next ) but want to fully rule this out first. If they have decent leather colors you might even be able to get it in the 63. Custom build of course. I have a gle loaner right now and I really like it. If I was able to get all the S class options such as leather choices, magic sky control , night vision ( I go to dark areas that are wooded ) it would sway me into sticking with Benz.
