Just ordered a 2020 GLS
-Selenite Grey
-19 inch twin 5 spoke wheels
-Pano roof
-Running boards
-Macchiato Beige Leather
-Natural Grain Brown Walnut Wood
-Executive Rear Seat Package +
-Convenience Package
-Warmth & Comfort Package
-4 zone climate
-Heated and cooled front cupholders
-Multicontour ventilated front seats with massage
-MBUX Augmented Video Navigation
-Driver Assistance Package +
-Wood/Leather steering wheel
Some considerations:
- I didn't go for the hot/cold rear cupholders because then you only get 1 cupholder back there instead of 2 as far as I know.
- I didn't get the head up display because with sunglasses you can't see it.
- I didn't get the Air Balance Package or the Energizing Package because that's kind of a gimmick/ridiculous.
- Didn't get Active Body Control because it seems unnecessary.

As far as packages, I think they do a lot of stripped down builds to keep lease prices low. I see tons of them all over the roads near me and the dealers stock a lot of lowly equipped models to lease at very low monthly payments.
I'd prefer they didn't do a lot of packages instead allow us to pick individual options a la cart. There are somethings I want but they force you to get it as part of an expensive package.
I'm used to ordering and waiting. I've done that for the last 21 years. Ordered about 1/2 dozen cars in that time. Even the ones that are built in Germany and must come by boat only took 3 months.
Most recent order was a BMW X3 for the wife. From the date we placed the order to the date we took delivery was less than 7 weeks. Not sure why MB takes 4+ months to build and deliver a car made in the USA to a customer in the USA.
Also MB doesn't have a way for customer to track status of orders. BMW lets you track your order on their site, so you know pretty well what state of the build/delivery it's in.
Lots of areas where MB can improve.

for HUD... I wear polarized sunglasses and still love my BMW HUD, despite it being slightly blocked by the polarization if I don’t tilt my head. You can always get non polarized sunglasses. Personally after having HUD for the first time in that other car, I hope to never be without it ever again!
