Ha. So funny to come across this topic. I actually held off ordering a fully spec'ed 450 because I couldn't get over the ugly wheel arches. And no, I won't be getting a 580 instead, as I was really looking forward to the new I6 engine. I'll just keep driving my current 550 until Mercedes gets their act together and stops this nonsense.

Just have them painted. Agree they look like **** but I painted my lower unpainted plastics on my Chevy Volt it it looks 100x better.
Again MB dropped the ball following the lead of lower level brands due to the supposed appearance advantage of the unpainted trim but at the price point of this car paint them!!

GLB interior flaws??
So, there is no GLB forum yet. the car looks fabulous...it even has a nice warm brown leather option...UNLESS you apparently want heated or third row seats, in which case you are limited to Tex. WHO THE HECK is making these dumb calls? I'm not in the market for a vehicle this small, but the same bizarre marketing choices seem to be at play.

They put the GLS 580 up too before it hit dealers. Maybe they're getting a lot of complaints and actually doing something about it.

This was a Canadian video. In Canada, the GLS 450 is available with the AMG Line Package as an option. In the US, the AMG Line Package is standard on the GLS 580 and not available on the GLS450.
I know some dealers are painting the fender flares on the GLS 450. I'm not sure how the color match, finish match and long-term durability will be, but it's an idea.

I'm very curious to see if Mercedes will yield on this and start offering the AMG pack on the 450 in the U.S. I think there is sufficient uproar about it now, then again maybe not. It just seems like the silliest thing, like ever for them not to do so.

I really can't understand their decision. However, if I was on the market for a GLS450, I would have flown out to Canada to buy it, make it a road trip back home

Vote with your pocketbook and do not buy a 167. Get MB's attention so they know their practice of withholding from the US market customers is BS!

Awaiting a 2021 GLS580
Their plan seems to have worked on me because i’m planning to get the 580 because of the AMG package and if it were available on the 450 i would be getting that one instead.

Sanding and painting
I agree, I ordered a white 450 and after seeing them on YouTube, I actually went to the dealer to see them in person. They don't quite look as bad in person but I am still considering not taking delivery of it. The dealer said they could sand and paint the arches but I don't know. I don't understand why you cant get the AMG line in the 450.
did the dealer say how much to sand and paint the 4 arches

I had a fully spec'ed 450 on order ($112k) but ended up cancelling in the end in no small part because of this unpainted crap being sold in a premium vehicle, it's just ridiculous, I just couldn't get over it. I'm glad I did too cause Escalade 2021 just released, gonna try a fully loaded ESV instead. Anyone into GLS and technology should seriously check those out, supercruise beats mercedes drunk lane centering all day long.

Who would've thought painted wheel arches would be an afterthought on a 2020.
I currently have a 2020 gls450 loaner from the dealer and its pretty impressive. But as others stated, non wheel arches would be a deal breaker.
