Congratulations. You'll love it. One word of caution: if you have ordered the rear seat executive package, make sure they have included the MBUX tablet and rear seat headrest cushions, which are supposed to be done at VPC. Mine came without them. It took 3 weeks to get the tablet and the headrest cushions are still MIA.
Sharp looking ride! Black exterior? I like the spoiler!
He ordered October 21st with original 2D January production which was pushed back to 2/10/2020 which then moved up to 2/9/2020 and it looks like it actually got built a few days early.
Mine still shows 2/12/2020 as est production date. no VIN# assigned yet and has been stuck in B3 since 12/20/2019. Originally had a 2D November then got pushed to 2D December, then to 2D January and now 2D February. No end in sight yet...
that stinks! Is there a particular option that they think is holding it up? I was really ticked that it got delayed 3 weeks.... I’d be chewing nails if it were delayed as long as yours has been. But then again I ordered a E450 Cab May 2018... built and arrived at the Baltimore VPC July 6. .... and sat there — and sat there — until September 13

They have no idea what's holding it up. I don't have any of the more obscure options like EABC. So not sure why it's delayed time after time.
What interior did you get? I heard there are delays for the Black/Tartufo.
Black leather with MB-Tex stitched lower dash and natural grain brown walnut trim. Again nothing out of the ordinary, Saw several cars on dealer lots with same interior combo.

Wow. I feel your pain. Have you tried contacting MB directly? Here's some info from the website: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC.

When I was in your shoes, I also emailed MB and spouted off about the wait, twice. Each time they contacted the dealer no later than the next day, and the dealer then called me with any updated info. Waiting endlessly without information is not acceptable.
I've seen some discussions about possible delays caused by E-ABC and spoilers. I have both. I ordered in August and took delivery in late January. I'm feeling luckier each day given what I've seen posted here.

Yup contacted MBUSA several times, by phone and email. They always tell me to contact my dealer for more information. When I tell them dealers have no idea why production is delayed they then become silent, apologize, then tell me to keep trying to get information from dealer as MBUSA apparently doesn't have any information on their own production system.
Very frustrated with this experience. Would've ordered the X7 (and gotten it months ago for many thousands less) if it weren't for the wife insisting on the GLS.

You're way nicer than I am, and I'm not proud. Each time I contacted them they tried to direct me back to the dealer, and I said hell no to that. I wouldn't be calling them if I had a responsive dealer. I told them I wanted to speak to someone who would recognize my concern and do something about it. As I've reported before, my sales rep got fired, which I wasn't intending, but it certainly perked up the ears of the sales manager.

Hah, I'm on the 3rd sales rep and 2nd sales manager. After the 3rd sales rep got fired (not because of me), they assigned my order directly to a sales manager. After dealing with him for a couple months, apparently he "left" the dealer for other opportunities. So now I'm dealing with the 2nd sales manager and 5th person at this dealer (they are the biggest MB dealer chain in the USA).

This also sounds familiar. I had 3 sales reps and two sales managers. There's something wrong in this equation and given how widespread these problems are, MB's business model is clearly not working well for customers.
I see you live in CA. Here's MB's regional office you could write to:
Western Region
3860 North Lakewood Blvd
Long Beach, CA 90808
If nothing else, it could make you feel better by taking some affirmative action rather than waiting for another "sorry, no information yet" message.

Thanks. I'm going to be traveling for work most of the next 6 to 8 weeks. If the car isn't in my garage by the end of the 8th week, I'm likely going to just cancel the order and re-evaluate. I don't have an urgent need for it as my current vehicle is working fine and the buyer I have lined up doesn't need it till sometime in May.
I've already spent more than then I want to on the phone with MBUSA and the dealers.
Just heard back from the dealer. They said my car went to B4 status on 2/4/2020 and has been stuck in B4 since and they don't know why. The strange thing is no VIN # has been assigned. I thought B4 means it's already in production and VIN # are assigned before production starts. So something doesn't line up.
Also doesn't B4 means 2 days to completion? It's been in B4 for nearly 10 days if what my dealer says is correct.
Congrats !!! Enjoy and keep us posted on impressions and features.
it’s a nearly fully-optioned GLS450. Only options we didn’t get were EABC, third row heated seats and my wife (her car) did not want the 21” wheels. She wanted the milder ride of the 20”. So one level upgrade on the wheels.
And, of course, we were SUPPOSED to have the Air fragrance/ionizing system but it accidentally got left off the order (we asked for it). But I didn’t notice it missing even though I’m sure over 4 months I looked at that order 40 times 🙄

Congratulations! Your patience paid off. Color is beautiful. On the air balance/fragrance issue, don’t fret; your car will have its new car smell for a longer period that won’t be covered up be the MB fragrance in a bottle. What color is the interior?
