Delivery delays?

I ordered my 2020 GLS in October, the build date was one of the first few days in January, and the dealer told me the car would be here 2 weeks ago. Every day or other day for the last 2 weeks they have said they expect it "today or tonight" but it never comes. First it was last Friday, then a few days later, then a few days after that, then this last Friday, then yesterday, but it never arrives. Are they playing games? Don't they have a system that tells them exactly when it's coming? I've ordered several cars at this dealer and have never had a problem. It seems like from what I've read on here that there have been supply problems with this model, but if the thing leaves Baltimore and is on its way here (I assume it goes from AL>Baltimore>destination, at least on East Coast) then I feel like they'd have a better idea/more accurate estimation then just saying it's going to be "any day." for 2 weeks. I mean, it's only a 1 day drive from Baltimore to the dealer anyways. What do you folks think?

Thanks.

I ordered in October and was told a build date in the second decade of February. My most recent inquiries have been met with no specific information and responses more along the lines of, "We'll be in touch." Does not inspire a lot of confidence.

I would think that would mean it’s being built right now. Usually after it’s built it’s about another few weeks-a month before it’s delivered. I’m just past that time frame now where it should have been here a couple weeks ago and instead they act like they have no idea and say it could be any day, and then it always isn’t.

What does it say when your dealer checks on the car in NetStar? Mine initially said VPC Ready for a week. Then finally it said released to carrier. Car arrived 3 days after it said released to carrier.

I’ve been holding off asking that directly because this dealer gave me an insane deal on the car and they’ve been good to me for a long time so to ask what their computer says would be a bit too aggressive. But I’m familiar with how it works and I know that if/when it says that then it would be here in short order which is why I don’t understand their confusion. They keep saying “today, tomorrow, tonight, any day now” and honestly I think they’re just sick of me.

Had exactly the same experience. Dealer said that the delivery from VPC to the dealer is out of their control and depends on any number of factors including the weather. Mine had so many delivery dates it was insane. Suddenly, in December, dealer says it won't be delivered until January. Got mine end of January. I ordered nearly every option the car could have from what looks to be a very low-volume dealer. I was thinking maybe the dealer wanted to post a large ticket item in 2020 rather than 2019 to start off the year well. Who knows, its all way too mysterious and a bad business model for MB. I guess that custom orders are more a pain in their butts and maybe this is their way of discouraging them.

I just don't get it with your order. I ordered a nearly fully loaded GLS 580 also and I only got delayed one month, the exact amount the dealer said it would probably get delayed when I initially placed the order... You must have the worst luck lol

I don't mind having bad luck as far as the delivery was concerned. I hope that doesn't extend to the performance of the car. I'm seeing a lot of scary sh*t in various threads about crazy things that aren't working or are in the process of breaking down.

Have you considered they just don't know? If you've worked with this dealer before and the cars arrived on time there must be some sort of hold up the salesman isn't privy too. And why would you tiptoe around them? It's business and you're paying a lot of money, despite whatever discount was given, and you simply want an update on when the car will arrive!

I don't think you read my comments correctly. I already have delivery of the vehicle. This was the first time I've dealt with this dealer who, coincidentally, discounted the price 2.5% from MSRP which I think is pretty unusual. All things considered an order date of 8/19/19 and a delivery date of 1/24/20 seems in retrospect to be pretty quick from what I'm now seeing. But on another note, I'm also seeing unusual repair issues posted and that's where I'm hoping that I have good luck.

A gaggle of MB's
For the OP - when production line has completed the rig - it is released to VPC - and is marked "In Process" - then VPC does their inspection and add-on's and when that is complete they release it as "Ready for Shipment" - and when the Carrier pick's it up it's called "Released to Carrier".

Where VPC "In Process" normally has been 2-3 days - then Ready-For-Shipment - it has not been uncommon for VPC In-Process for some GLS's to be longer.

A example - the added/extended roof spoiler (611?) has not been available - and a GLS with that spec will sit "In Process".

Talk to your Dealer - if your order shows "In Process" for too long they need to call Mercedes Distribution - and ask Distribution what the hold-up is - which may be correctable.

---------------
This VPC "In-Process" is completely different than factory/B4 which is a black hole BEFORE VPC that dealer's and distribution normally can't look into.

Does vehicle ever skip VPC? Mine went straight from B4 to release to carrier.

Hi there, I ordered mine on 28 Dec 2019 and the dealer gave me this screenshot from his system. I do not understand the code words. Can someone please clarify what B2-03.2 mean? The only thing clear to me is the planned delivery date of 5-May but nothing else. any insight is greatly appreciated. I also came across terms like a first decade or second decade of a month and do not know what it means. Thanks.

See below sceenshot.

Thank you. Any estimate for delivery in your experience, if the prod is mid-March

In my experience it took about a week to get through the delivery prep center and onto a truck but mine was done at the factory in AL. I’ve seen others go to Baltimore and other locations, so it probably depends on where you are located.

I live in Toronto. My dealer told me 5 May or thereabout. Is that reasonable?
