Yes, I have done month to month lease extension in the past and it's a great option but last time I was told by a dealer MBFS doesn't allow it anymore unless you have a car on order and I am not a picky car buyer so I always find something on the lot to drive home rather than waiting for months. Also, keep in mind that by extending a 24m/36m lease for even just a month, you will need to renew registration for the whole year so that would be another couple of hundred dollars down the drain for keeping it just for a few months... @rayzam Fully agree. Is purchase at lease end+financing (loan), or extension of the lease by 12-36 months an option for you? I have done both on previous vehicles. It increases your flexibility so as not to be forced into a decision that is not in your best interest. Originally Posted by rayzam

Quick update on my case:
- Received a call from SteriCycle - the 3rd party administrator for the buy back - and they requested an authorization from and copy of temp registration to start the process. They promised a fast and easy process, so hopefully it won't take much time.
- The dealership that leased me the car was able to locate a nearly identical car at another dealership and got it for me with a little bit more discount than the first car, so I got the new car right on time for our family trip. We drove the new car for around 700 miles over the weekend with no problem, so hopefully this one is a keeper!
I am yet to get back what I paid for the first car, but as I spoke with a lemon law attorney last week, he indicated that MBUSA was indeed very quick to act to offer to buy back the faulty car within 3 weeks of the break down so I guess they deserve credit for that. Will update!
