I'm wondering if they are offering wireless Carplay for GLS in 21?

There is no mention of such in the DOG, so unlikely.

Apple provide a list of all cars that support CarPlay, https://www.apple.com/ios/carplay/available-models/, but don’t maintain a list of the wireless implementations.

It is listed on my build order so I would assume it is present on all GLS models. Code 16U for apple 17U for android; both are present

my MY2020 has CarPlay already as well. but it's tethered version.
does your build spec say wireless?

My 2021 GLS63 order says:

• 16U Apple CarPlay

So it’s probably not wireless.

Just got this email message from CARPLAY2air:

We are happy to let you know that we are now in the process of completing the test of our adapter with Mercedes 2020 multimedia systems.
The test of our engineering team is still ongoing for your car.
No worries! I will let you know right away once we are done with the test.

This is so lame. You'd think that if plenty of $30k vehicles come with this standard, then MB would also, but no, you need to plug it in like it's 2017.
BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, even Fords and Chevys are offering this as std equipment (and I believe the MB "B" class). What gives?

B Class is extinct. First Mercedes with wireless carplay will be the 21 S Class. Other Mercedes models will probably have to wait until MY22.

not sure what you mean by "software or hardware upgrade"?
it's a standard feature on X167

that's a news to me.
mine was delivered on 1/15/2020. the CarPlay works just fine.
as far as I know, the CarPlay is standard and active. do you guys know something else?

ah, that was unclear.
I was told the MY21 X167 will NOT support wireless CarPlay.
on my '20 X167, I'm using Carplay2Air for that.
I just got my '21 AMG GTC4, that one now has updated MBUX, and it still does not support wireless CarPlay.

the only vehicle in entire MB line up that supports the wireless CarPlay natively is W223, I think.

No worries. It's a head scratcher for sure.
Just about every manufacturer offers this nowadays. Not sure what the deal is.

Ok, not available on the GLB either. As I mentioned before the ONLY Mercedes that will have it for 21 is the W223 S Class.

Got it. Well, they must have disabled it, because it did have it when the GLB came out. Redline reviews did a video about it.

Any intel on whether the 22 GLS will have wireless CarPlay? Deciding whether to place the order now or wait...

not going to happen on our current gen MBUX.
According to my source guy, they have no plans of changing the MBUX on X167, hardware-wise.

if they ever enable/add that capability via software update, '21 or '22 would equally be getting it.

There are some wireless aftermarket options out there but still needs to be plugged in to the proper USB port. It takes up a little space in the cup holder/charger area.

I love Carplay2Air.
a good product.
My only gripe about that is the maximum number of phones we can link is two.
I got four drivers in the house....

I originally bought a wireless
adapter from Carplay2aor. That was a disaster. Didn’t work and they never refunded me my money.

I recently purcjased a unit
from Copilot and that works flawlessly.
