[PRO TIP] 23" Tire Option - Reconsider Tire Coverage

I caught a bolt in my rear driver tire. Don't be like me and refuse the tire coverage while being unaware that Pirelli makes these tires and attaches a foam insulation material inside the tire for noise reduction. With this the dealer wasn't sure if the patch would stick as securely, so I decided to replace the tire...and add tire coverage. My service rep says she has only seen this on 1 other vehicle and that was a GLS 63, so I'm guessing this applies to at least the 23" AMG option on the 580 + all options on the 63. I wonder why no mention of this to help sell the Acoustic package? Dig into it further if applicable to your purchase decisions!

2021 GLS63
The foam is part of all the Mercedes specific Pirelli tires for the new GLS. Per tirerack, it is for road noise reduction as you said. The 23” Michelin Pilot Sport tires on the GLS63 doesn’t have the foam but there are still super expensive.

I decided to get the wheel and tire coverage since it covered cosmetic damage and covered the OEM 23” wheels and tires and would cover the 22” winter wheels and tires (twice as many rims to curb...) If I bend a 23” rim and blow a tire...$1500+ repair bill.
