2021 GLS 450 Exterior Door Handle LED

Hi All,

I just took deliver on my 2021 GLS 450. Has anyone else have the same problem I'm facing with the no LED for the exterior door handles? This was a standard feature in the 2020 models and as far as I can tell mine does not have the LED.

Anyone else that owns a 2021 GLS have this same problem?

You post is vague. You expected something but did not get it, which you know was in a previous model. Did you discuss this with your dealer when you picked up the car? It does not seem like a problem but simply wrong expectation. I did not know that handles had LEDs.

Not sure what's vague about this post. Illuminated door handles is something Mercedes been doing for awhile now. Also, after speaking with several MBUSA representatives directly they informed me this should be a standard on all 2021 vehicles. Can't validate if it should be standard on all, but I would expect this on a GLS. This I believe was standardize back in 2018. I've had it on my 2019 C Class along with my 2016 E Class. So the fact that it was also on a friends base model 2020 GLS, I find it odd in a well equipped 2021 GLS.

When initially speaking with my dealer or several dealership for that matter. They were under the impression that it just needs to be turned on. That alone tells me that it's should already be there. Not once did they ask the question if an option was purchased.

Exterior door handles are typically on all touch and go. Typically can see it based on the silver trim on top of the handles.

Did anyone ever find out about this ?
Our 2020 has these handle lights, but I’ve never seen them on another GLS. Did they delete them or disable them ?

Mercedes removed them for 2021 model year for many of their lines (at the very least, I know about GLE, GLS, C, and E and at least some S classes).

The 2021's still had the socket for the bulb there, but no idea if the wiring was there or removed, and I'm not my door apart to find out
