Question 2021 GSL 450 Rear Liftgate

I took delivery of my 2021 GLS 450 back in early December 2020. A couple of weeks ago I took it to the dealer for my 10,000 miles service. One of the issues I had them check was sometimes the rear liftgate wouldn't close using the Lock Button (Right Button) on the liftgate. This was only a random issue and of course, it wouldn't repeat itself when the Technician checked out the issue. After picking the car up, the liftgate now stops after it opens about 2 feet and I have to touch the latch again to get it to completely open. This is the same for all liftgate open options (driver door, key fob, hands-free, or on the liftgate). This may be in my mind, but it sounds like the motor is straining to fully open the liftgate. I have tried to clear the stop limiter but when I hold the button it never gives the double beep.

Due to my work travel, I am unable to get my car back to the dealer until 8/6. I am just curious, is there something simple I am missing to solve the problem? Is there a tension adjustment or something the Technician may have adjusted to create the problem?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Yes, check your manual. There is an adjustment that limits the amount the lift gate will open. I assume the tech must have set this to a less than full level when testing and didn’t return to the default full open setting before returning the car. Just reset it to the default and save yourself a trip to the dealer.

***** UPDATE *****
Yesterday, I finally got around to taking my car to the dealer for service. They had to replace the tailgate control module and "Code Control Unit" whatever that is... Based on the way the tailgate functions now, this system didn't operate properly from day one. The tailgate now opens and closes much more rapidly.

My new to me 2021 GLS63 does the same thing, stops whilst opening and I have to press the button again. The motor sounds like it’s struggling like yours did.

If I try to raise it from the remote key it unlocks, starts to lift then doesnt, so is not working correctly either.
