Went to renew the AT&T data plan for the GLS this morning as we tend to have several iPads connected to it, but nope. AT&T says they no longer offer data plans to MB cars. So….. Anyone have any insight as to who provides the data plans now for MB cars? I got this message today when I tried to renew…
FYI - shortly after I posted this, I got thru on the 800 number.
It’s TMobile.
great, might as well be a CB Radio…
Is your GLS even giving you the option to switch to TMobile? Mine still tries still to connect to the AT&T enrollment site. MB told me that they are sending an OTA update in late September to switch it to TMobile. I’m curious what they told you on the call and if you got anywhere with TMobile? I emailed the TMobile folks as well and they have not been able to do anything yet. I know it’s first world problems, but you would think that Mercedes would have a better plan to transition customers. I’m basically now stuck with a useless feature and have to hotspot from my phone until they resolve this mess.

we didn’t get that far on the conversation. The mb rep offered to connect me to a T-Mobile rep to set up the account, but I declined. We’re a Sprint family in general between 3 iPhones. We’re likely to either add the car to our account, or just update the 4th kid’s iPad from just wifi to wifi and cellular. Or maybe both. If it’s like $10 extra for us to add the car, we’ll do it.
My main question though is having the ability to call emergency services for the car. Wife gets into a situation and needs Mercedes help via the button in the car, will it work without the cellular connection?
My only concern is when we go back to NC to the coast, Sprint/T-Mobile isn’t as strong as AT&T was in certain stretches of the drive. Sprint has several dead zones where AT&T was strong. Was nice to have two options. But, first-world problems I guess! Jr. will just have to look out the window instead of YouTube for awhile!

The emergency services work over a separate cellular connection in your vehicle, just like the OTA updates.
