Actual gas consumption comparison of new and old

Anyone here who actually owned the old body style (2017-2019) GLS 450 and compared it to the new mild-hybrid electric motor's performance (450) and most importantly the gas mileage on a regular family/ run around stone duty trip? Aside from the smoother stop and go of the new engine what did you hate/like if you compare the two motor?

I can't compare to the last generation. I can compare my GLS450 to my GLE350. I've taken a few long-distance trips with this car fully loaded with ski gear, beach gear, or just a bunch of suitcases. I have attained 24-25 mpg when using the Eco engine mode. (I've set the Individual mode up with Eco engine and sporty suspension and steering. I like that combination.)

Around town, I get about 20 mpg average. So in both cases, even with the GLS being a much heavier vehilcle, consumption is similar in both vehicles.

My 2020 GLS 450 gets about 2 mpg better than my 2015 GL 450 did, at least according to the on-board computer. Around town I have gone from 17 to 19 and highway driving from 22 to 24. These figures are based on my recollection of driving the same routes. One thing that has changed is the smaller gas tank. Going from 26.4 to 23.8 gallons means my range has stayed about the same.

I was never bothered by the start-stop of the old model, but the mild hybrid of the new model makes the start-stop almost imperceptible. It is the most seamless application of start-stop technology I have ever come across.
