So had mine in this week for the front passenger seat starting to split on the entry bolster seat bottom. Same place the driver's side started to split last fall. The front passenger seat is rarely used. MB did not replace it, said material is unavailable at this time. When I asked if they had ordered it and plan to call me when it comes in, they told me no.
Apparently the situation has become so common now that MB has advised the dealers to stop replacing them temporarily while MB redesigns the seat cover in general, and then will come back to those impacted with a notice to have them replaced with the new version. So, if you're like us and noticing the MBTex in your GLS starting to crack and split, you're apparently not alone, and a more permanent fix is in the works. At least that is what I was told today, and mine was a clear warranty claim request, not a situation where someone could suggest user error.
When will this happen? Who knows. Thankfully ours is not that bad at the moment and hardly noticeable, but it will certainly become worse as time goes on.

Sorry to hear that MB is not able to provide a timely remedy to this.
