I'm a (former) certified tech in several Euro brands, and in fact just sold $10k of my tools to "lighten up."

I use that knowledge to improve my relationships with Service Departments. They know my skills and respect my insights, and we are better together.

I'll admit that it also gives insight into crappy shops (Indys are worse in general), so I drive an extra hour for the shop that works with me, to my standards.

I don't have, nor do I know an Indy, who has the equipment to fully diagnose a new Mercedes. Or training, for that matter.

2006-2009, I lived in Apex!! LOVED IT!!! NE cloverleaf of 64/55 in a neighborhood called Charleston Village, and my office was in Chapel Hill. BEST daily commute of my life - back roads along lake Jordan. God I miss it!! Was thru there for the first time since leaving for Chitcago in Feb 2009 this past Thanksgiving, with my now 15 year old son to show him the house he was born in, and then proceeded to eat everything on the menu from Biscuitville! Place has changed a lot, but not too much!

Ya, I seem to recall your location used to be "NC"
I have never been to Biscuitville but I know it's a popular destination.
Yah again, the back roads around JL are nice, some heavily traveled too.
I know Chapel Hill much better than Apex. Curt has moved locations again, about 2 years ago and has an amazing facility with about 10 or 12 bays and 6 or 7 loaners including a nice S class. All the cars are rock solid too!

I DIY when I can. I also use an independent shop when I need to. I only take my cars to the dealership for recall or warranty work.

Thanks for the information. Would you recommend them even for the A/B service for a new car?

I would certainly recommend them, as I mentioned I've taken all my cars there over the years when they were brand new (2011 E550, 2011 E63, 2014 S550). I don't have much experience with Durham's store but I did get ripped off there once for an extended warranty for my AMG years ago.
If you don't mind driving to Apex, which is easy: I-40 to US-1 to the Ten ten road exit.
I'll be going soon for an oil change as well as replacing my front and rear brakes and rotors
