Every time I try to recline driver's back rest, the bottom of seat moves forward. Can't get it into my comfortable position. The dealer says this is how the car is designed, doesn't make any sense to me. Anyone else having this issue? How can I fix it? Thanks.

 

Had the same issue. Lower all the 3rd and 2nd row seats. Then raise them all up again. One of the seats is not "locked" into place causing the issue. I was almost ready to take mine to the dealer and found a post on-line somewhere about it. Happened to me again last weekend and started over. Raised all the seats, then lower, then raised again. Guessing you are taller than 6 foot like me and keep the drivers seat back quite a bit. Report back it this resolved the issue...it did for me.

Back Rest IssueI am tall. 6’5”. When I was test driving these, I noticed that as I leaned the backrest, the seat would move forward. The more you lean, the more the seat moves forward. This was a deal breaker for me and I was going to buy the X7 until the dealership called me to tell me they fixed the issue in the model I wanted. He said if you move the seat all the way forward and up, it “resets” the position of the drivers seat allowing you to recline the backrest when the seat is pushed all the way back. Whatever they did, it worked. I was able to sit comfortably, so I bought it.

BUT

I had a guy come wash my car, and he moved my seat. It has the problem with the backrest again! I keep trying to do what the did at the dealership to no avail. Any advice on what I can do???

Apparently the ‘03 SL500 had this issue. Someone help!

UPDATE: Yesterday I fixed the issue. I had to lower the captains chair behind the drivers seat with the button in the back of the vehicle. The rear button pushes the drivers seat forward to give the middle seat room to lay down. I then raised the middle seat and *viola*, the seat now goes all the way back and the back rest tilts back comfortably. This is a stupid glitch on my nearly $100k vehicle. I hope this helps anyone in the future. Thanks for the advice!

Kindly suggest what to do if both of the recliner's leg rest are not coming up? is there any specific way to use them. I've been trying to use them but they are not coming up. There is a little movement in them but not full operational.
