Place the key in spot?
Anyone seen this messsage when trying to start?
2021 GLS 450 and this is the first time I had issues. I finally hit unlock and lock on remote and somehow the car started.
I also couldn’t figure out where to put the key and the manual was useless as is typical.

You will get this message if the car can't detect the key properly, either because it is blocked by something, the battery is low, or the key was asleep due to not being moved.
The spot for it is in the front of the inside the center console. While the manual does have its issues, I think this spot is notated fairly well.

Just jiggle/nudge the key fob. It’s asleep 💤. Not joking, it’s sleeping for security reasons to prevent a thief from hacking the signal to gain access and start the car with some type of signal hack device. We live in a community where theft isn’t an issue, and the car lives in the garage, with the key normally sitting in the cup holder. When going to start the car, we’ll get that message too. Now, when we get in to start the car, we’ll just grab the fob for brief second and jiggle it and put it back, and the car starts right up.
