Just had my local dealer install the retrofit augmented reality camera. I’m glad that Mercedes made good on its constraints with the chip shortage and made good on this feature. Seems very cool feature when trying to find a house at night.

It’s my understanding that I can now use a dashcam feature? Can anyone advise how I would use this feature now that I have the augmented reality camera feature?

The dashcam is a separate feature that uses the same hardware as AR, but it is not included with the AR package. Unless the dealer did programming for the Dashcam (which doesn't seem to be part of the retrofit) you won't have it. I believe Meredes has made it available to a small handful of select years/models to purchase as a Mercedes Me Connect Service, but nothing for the GLS yet. In theory in the future you'll be able to purchase it as an add-on.
