GLS markup does not seem dealer driven

I just bought a 2022 GLS to backup my EQS for long road trips. I got a very decent trade in price on an MSRP sale price from my local MB dealer. When I got home, I was looking through loose paperwork in the glove box and found a preprinted window sticker showing a $199 nitrogen air charge (what a scam) and an $8000 market adjustment on the price of the car. My dealer completely ignored this sticker and did not apply those markups. This seems to have been printed somewhere else not the local dealer. Are all of these outrageous market adjustments being driven by the manufacturer and not really by local economic pressure on the dealers?

That's certainly from a dealer. Probably your dealer, but it is also possible that your dealer got the car from a different dealer who did that. Seen tons of dealers put all sorts of junk on a sticker, that you can often not pay.

If the manufacturer wants to raise prices, they can just raise the MSRP, no need for anything else.

The car actually did not come from another dealer and the preprinted window sticker had my local dealer printed on it. Maybe they had a change of heart and decided not to use it. It's odd they didn't even try though; I've never found this dealer to be all that altruistic.

Has anyone ever found any dealer to be altruistic?

Some dealers are willing to forgo a markup on a car for a few various reasons:

1) Customers are Local
2) Will Service with Particular Dealer
3) Have a Good Trade In
4) Repeat Customer

I'm assuming you fall into number four and maybe number one considering you bought an EQS.

That's actually a typical dealer adjustment.
I recently collected the data from with 4+ dealerships of Washington and Oregon State in June.
2022 GLS450 Mark up 10k-15k for in stock ones. Negotiable to <7k5.
2022/3 GLS580 order just reopen. No number yet.
2021 GLS580 USED. Mark up ~10k
2022/3 GLS63 AMG Mark up ~50k
