Theft Alarm Question
Hi folks. Yesterday I parked my 2022 GLS 450 in a parking lot, put it in PARK, got out, and stepped away about 50' while the car was still running. My keys were still in the car and my wife remained seated in the passenger seat. After a few minutes, the theft alarm (horn) started blaring and so my wife silenced it from inside the car with her key fob. She remained in the car and a few minutes later the same thing happened again.
I'm trying to understand why this would happen. It seems as though the theft alarm thought someone was trying to steal the car. Why would it act in this manner? Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

So you left the car running, with someone inside, AND they had your key too?
This doesn’t make sense because I do this quite often with my wife when I go into a store. Sometimes I forget and take my key and the only thing it will do, if she didn’t bring her own key in her purse, is beep inside the car telling someone left in there that the key is undetected. It happens this way in both my current and last MBs with keyless go.
