Fuel pump going bad?
Recap: Noise began after fuel pump recall work was performed. The noise used to last longer which allowed me to record it. Significant work was performed by dealer outlined above. Currently the noise only happens for short periods of time (2-4 seconds) when coming to a stop. The noise does not happen when the fuel level falls below 93% in the tank.
It seems to be a fuel pressure differential causing a pump part to make the noise. During flow while driving there isn't an issue. Once fully stopped the thumping happens. I'm not sure what happens mechanically at that particular point within the fuel system.
Perhaps I am describing the ideal conditions for cavitation at the pump?
