When using 3rd row seats, does the liner need to come out or can the liner be roll up or folded?

It's floppy enough to fold but you're better off getting this one which I believe is designed for the 3rd row:

For floor mats, I'm going to go with the Tuxmats. It's nice that they have a specific set (https://www.tuxmat.com/products/8770...2828&year=2024) for the GLS 580 with the rear Executive bench seats.

Does anyone have experience with the "Trunk Tub" (https://www.mbpartscenter.com/oem-pa...167814030028)?

The OEM cargo mat mentioned and pictured above seems to be available here (https://mbparts.mbusa.com/oem-parts/...mat-1676846600).

You can order the Concertina to go with it, also mentioned above, here (https://mbparts.mbusa.com/oem-parts/...r-253693200064).

Unfortunately, the 3d MAXpider mats (https://3dmatsusa.com/collections/cu...gu-cargo-liner) don't list "GLS-CLASS" in the dropdown on their page. I've also asked them whether their mats cover the cargo area with the 3rd row down. I'd much prefer to have a single mat that can fold when the 3rd row is up but protect things when it is down.

I don't like the Weather Tech or Smartliner approach of having two different mats to install depending on the position of the 3rd row.

I tried to order this, and the dealer (Mercedes-Benz of South Orlando) responded to me with this:

Good afternoon, the reason that your order was canceled is that this part does not apply to this vehicle. The reversible mat is only available for the GLE not the GLS because the 3rd row does not allow it to sit properly even if you have the seats folded down.
But on the same site, it said that "This part fits your 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS 580". I don't see why it wouldn't fit the 2024, or why they would say that it is for the GLE only.

They responded fairly quickly with the following:

Cargo liner has never been developed, and is on the future (R&D) development list.

Please try back in the next 4-6 months.

I bought this from Amazon back in 2020 for my 2020 GLS and still using it in my 2024 GLS. Seven-seater with 3rd row usually down, and when I need to carry extra passengers and raise the 3rd row, I can easily roll the mat behind the 3rd row. It has worked pretty well for what it's supposed to do over the past 4 years for just $90.

Looks like a great, inexpensive solution! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will fit my MY23 GLS. What could have changed in the back from MY21?

It should fit all model years of X167 (at least the 7 seaters, although I cannot see why it can't be used in 6 seaters). As said, I got it for my 2020 GLS and had no problem using it in my 2024 GLS. Most likely the seller just didn't bother with updating the compatibility info since listing it in 2020. It will fit your car (and comes with free delivery and return just in case).

Edit: And here is a pic of it in the current car.

More from Parts at Mercedes-Benz of South Orlando:

Sorry that site seems to be wrong It does not fit, the GLE only has two rows of seats so it has a bigger space in the trunk for the mat to sit in as where the GLS has the third row seat which takes up the trunk space where the mat would go. Even if you fold the seats down it would not have a perfect fit like it was designed to be for the GLE.
So they are saying that mbusa.com has inaccurate information.

Correct, as it is a luxury vehicles they are not designed to be accessorized. Depending on the year and model of the vehicle there are only a few items that apply to each. Sorry if this brings any inconvenience.
This seems almost incomprehensibly ignorant. I guess that my only choices are to go with third-party accessories or buy Mercedes OEM accessories from third-parties, and hope they aren't fakes. I expected far better accessory support from Mercedes-Benz on a new top-of-the-line SUV. Very frustrating.

Unfortunately, Mercedes is not doing much to improve over the stereotype that owners of the brand are well beyond retirement years!

I never got to ask you: if the third row is up, does the whole liner travel if there's nothing in the trunk? We do use the third row for long trips. Thanks!

It's somewhat rigid but still flexible enough that with the 3rd row up, I can just roll it in the space behind the seats.

Ordered it yesterday.

Do you think some 3M velcro may help stop any travel when 3rd row goes up and down?

Doubt it. As I said, the piece is quite rigid and cannot be folded, just roll it.

Just wanted to report that I did end up finally receiving the mat from Amazon. It seems to be made fairly decently, has the lip preventing stuff like umbrellas from rolling into the crevice behind the 2nd row, and is tacky enough that most objects don't have any chance of rolling!
So far so good!

Not a lot of time for pics but here's a quick one. So far, umbrellas have stayed on the trunk side!
It's already picked up some marks from luggage sliding across so its very tacky material!

Not a bad, inexpensive solution but it doesn't have the lip I wanted to prevent umbrellas from rolling down behind the 2nd row!

Try unsnapping / untying the umbrella to keep it from rolling.
