A Cayenne is never going to have S Class levels of luxury...its just a totally different aesthetic and feel.
How did you manage to transfer the car from a non-Mercedes dealer to Mercedes?
I guess it worked out because that dealership group owned an MB dealership so they just ship it to one of their dealerships and go through CPO.
If I remember correctly, you can take an MB for a PPI at a MB dealership from an off-brand dealership and then CPO by paying a fee but that they own a MB dealership (owned by the same dealership group) probably made it easier.

Re Volvo, my wife drove a 93 850 and then 2 S80s (2000 & 2006) that I would say were premium. I believe since Geely bought Volvo from Ford in 2010 they have been moving the brand to a more luxury offering.

When I mentioned the vehicle to the used car manager while my S550 was getting serviced, he offered to have it transferred so they could go thru it, and in negotiations agreed to CPO. One comment he had was that, in his opinion, if any of the dealerships takes in a trade vehicle of another represented brand, that the vehicle should automatically be transferred to that brand dealership, but that is not the way the company operated.

The materials are excellent for what it is, the reviewers are comparing the vehicle to other vehicles in its price class. When compared to a GLS or X7, the materials are not as nice for sure. The one on the showroom floor was one trim below loaded.
The areas I have circled in red on the CX90 are hard plastic similar to what you would find in a Mazda CX-5 or other mainstream vehicle like a telluride, etc. In a GLS most of these areas are nice padded vinyl or stitched leather/imitation leather (lower doors in GLS are plastic). In the X7 all those areas are padded vinyl or stitched leather. Just one example. Also this trim has cheesy imitation carbon fiber where the germans have real wood trim or real CF or metal all as options.
The trim above this does not change any of these areas, nor does it improve the cabin isolation or overall feel of refinement. The CX-90 is a great near luxury vehicle, but its not comparable to a GLS or X7.

Since you test drove a GLS450 recently, did you notice that those lower parts were also plasticky? I think most manufacturers are equal in this regard now when it comes to plastic.

In the GLE/GLS the only hard plastic is the lower door bins. The rest of the materials are padded around the lower dash and center console.
Like js said, the only hard plastic on the GLS is the lower door bins, everything else is padded. On an X7 even those bins are padded, not sure why the GLS cheaped out there (they are padded on the GLC but not the GLE or GLS).

I am curious though, what else, so the material used in the CX90, what options did the CX90 have, what is the sticker price, what wheels and tires did the CX90 have, what suspension setup. How is the new inline-6 is it smooth, how is road noise, the handling, the transmission the technology, features, seat comfort, etc.

The CX90 I drove was the one rung down from the top Turbo S model, so pretty highly optioned with a $58,000 sticker. They are coil suspension, no air suspension and it drove great....its just not comparable to something in this league. Powertrain very smooth, ride is a little firm but very BMW like.

Can any current MBCA members confirm that there is NO rebate currently on the GLS?
Can you also confirm that you need to be an MBCA member for at least 30 days before being elgible for a check? My membership has lapsed probably close to 10 years ago!
I know with BMWCCA, you can prepay for 3 years of membership and automatically be elgible for rebates in year one!

I would have liked a HUD and retain the flat-bottom steering wheel but getting a GLS in today's atmosphere is an accomplishment in itself! I probably have one of the final builds before they completely switch over to the '24 models.
