Advice on buying a used GLS 2020 or 2021
Hey there
I am interested in buying a GLS 540 2020 or 2021, depending on which one is more reliable. However, I have read many posts here mentioning the problem with the 48v battery and that it can reoccur. Most likely, the car I will buy will be out of warranty.
any advice if getting this car is a good idea or should I just stay clear of them? also, what would be the ideal price range for these two models the GLS 450 2020 and 2021

2015 MB S550 & 2020 MB GLS 450
I bought my 2020 GLS 450 in November. In following the forum, it seemed that with the chip shortage and supply chain issues, some features in the 2021 model year were not available for periods of time. It also seemed like 2021 is really when most 48v battery issues arose. In my case I also liked the fact that it had the 050 Half Model Year code, so initial issues are hopefully resolved.
As to warranty, the GLS was a CPO, and I bought the 2 yr warranty extension. Without a CPO, for peace of mind you might look at a Fidelity Platinum warranty. I bought one in 2019 for my 2015 S550. I have used it once with the dealer processing the claim.

The 2019 GLS450 is one of the most reliable MBs on the preowned market today.
Or look at a BMW X7 or 2019 Porsche Cayenne if you don’t need a third row.
