ODB reader for CEL codes
Hi,
I have 2022 GLS 450. In about 12 year of ownership, I got the check engine light 'CEL' twice. Last time I got it checked at the service center and it turned out just lose gas cap. Now it is on again and I don't want to spend time going to service center and if this is going to happen often, I'm looking for better solution.
To get started, I guess, I need a ODB port reader to get the error code. Which one do you guys use or recommend based on your presonal experince?

C450, GLS 63 and a few other things
If all you want is something to read codes, Amazon or wherever you get your cheap stuff from has wifi/bluetooth scanners for $10-15 that will connect with your phone (you'll need an app from the app store, there will be several free options). These will let you monitor certain data, read and clear codes. However, they will not deal with any non-standard (ie., Mercedes specific) codes and modules, but most Check Engine light issues come from the standard list.
Sounds like they will serve your purpose, just be aware of the limitations...you'll need to step way up in price to get something more specific.
