48v Software Update campaign

my car was in the shop for the MBtex split replacement. Got it back today with new cover on driver’s side and will go back once the passenger side part comes in.
They also did this without me asking - the 48v ICS Control Unit Software update. We’ve not had any of the problems that some of had with the 48v system in 3 years and 63k miles, but it appears that if you have a MB 48v vehicle in general prior to March 2023, they will update the software for you regardless if you ask or not. It’s a “campaign”, and that reference number is 2022100005. It applies to 2019-2022 model years for the E, CLS, GLE, GLS, S, AMG GT (213, 238, 257, 167, 223, 290)…
I am long past warranty, yet they charged me nothing for the update.
(PS: The other two campaigns in the picture were for the 3rd row seat locking mechanism and the rear door trim mounting bracket, neither of which was a problem for our car).

I googled and found this:
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year 2019-2022 E, CLS, GLE, GLS, S & AMG GT-Class (213, 238, 257, 167, 223, 290), the affected vehicles may not meet current On Board Diagnostics (“OBD”) emissions specifications. Under certain conditions, the permanent OBD fault code memory of the 48V ISG control unit may not activate. An authorized Mercedes- Benz dealer will update the software in the affected vehicles.
Update at 3:45 pm: just set my service appointment and the 48v software update is the other recall listed.

thanks for posting the google results! Interesting to read that. Would be curious if the google results show the campaign number too? That would confirm it if possible. Would actually make me feel better about it, since we’ve never had the 48v dead car issue before, would rather leave well-enough alone!
