2024 GLS450
no, they took my order for the gls450 which is available. Then I contacted them to change to 580 and they said it’s not available. Apparently 450 and 580 are different allocations? It’s not just a ‘GLS’ allocation?

For example, I ordered my GLS from a dealer 2 hours outside of DC because all of the dealers here are still trying for ADP (while they have vehicles sitting on their lot so long that window stickers are fading). My desired spec is almost identical to yours. Initially, the dealer was able to accommodate everything except the 22" Multispoke wheels (Silver - I do not have the night package), as they did not have anything in allocation. They had a Pinnacle trim slated for build which I got, and it would have been a 11/17 production date. They told me they would keep trying to find a build with Pinnacle and the wheels I wanted. About 2 weeks later, I got an email that one came up in the system that they could shift my order to but it would delay my production to 12/15. I re-signed the deal for that one, which then slipped to 12/17, and then 1/8/24 but then went red (locked in for changes) and moved back to 1/6/24 production (and hoping to see it continue sliding left... I am ready to have it in my garage).

It goes even deeper than that. There are allocations based on wheels, trim levels, etc. That said, they should keep trying to get you the 580 like you want, but you may have to wait. My dealer apparently has a person who is solely responsible for working things like this.

interesting! I thought as long as it wasn’t AMG it’s just as simple as GLE build, GLS build, customized however you want.
I talked it over with my wife and I think we’re going to do a compromise in between the $111k Loaded 450 and the $135k Loaded 580. We’ll go with:
$128k GLS580 Fully Loaded (V8, Airmatic & OffRoad Package w/ Underguard)
So we save the $6500 on the E-ABC for a nice family vacation, and we get V8 power with the off road package for adventures. By the time I sell this car in probably 6-8 years, I might not even be able to purchase a V8, another factor in considering my decision.

30k miles with E-ABC and no issues so far. A friend has 37k miles and no issues with E-ABC. Both of us would get it again.

They may have already tried this, but... Dealers can trade allocations with each other. Most dealers have a few other dealers that they frequently trade with (sometimes on the giving end, sometimes on the receiving end). So it's possible that your dealer could trade for a GLS580 allocation, if one of their trading partners has one and is willing. They usually have to trade for something of equal or greater desirability/rarity, so your dealership may not be willing. But it's worth asking...
Good luck!

I can confirm that each model (450, 580, etc.) is it's own unique allocation. It's possible for a dealership to have multiple allocations for a GLS450, but no allocation for a 580.

Alright, I should be good to go! I got in contact with an adjacent dealer who said if this dealer doesn't work out, they'd match the $5k discount with a confirmed March allocation. I should be solidifying tomorrow with one of them so it's locked in before Christmas.
Option wise, I've decided to check every box but 1. E-ABC 2. wood steering wheel (the standard sport one is better in my opinion) and 3. chrome handle inserts. This has been quite the ride over the last few days, highly informative, and appreciate all the help from everyone!

I couldn't even find a 580 period in stock close to me, only a Maybach model (which obviously has V8 + E-ABC).
The 580s are pretty difficult to locate if being honest, especially a desirable one.

Is 5 zone AC already included in one of the packages? How about heated steering wheel? I don't think I saw them listed individually.
