No driveshaft boots or driveshafts exist for the 2024...

Well this is exciting - the rear outboard driveshaft boot is split on my 4 week old car spilling grease everwhere - Mercedes tell me

a) it's unique to this model
b) no boot kits exist, not even a part number
c) no drive shafts exist world wide as spare parts

wth? I am very suspicious that they changed the driveshaft for the 2024 model, but I guess I might be starting a lemon law claim.

Suspicions confirmed - the part sticker on the driveshft says it's exactly the same part since 2020 (AMG version) so now I have to convince my dealer to ignore their computer and install a replacement part matched from the sticker of the part they need to take off.

You can see the mud flap thread for similar issues that I have been seeing. It seemed like the parts would work and be the same, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I don't know if it's the same or a different kind of issue with your driveshaft.

Was your GLS a custom order?

Off the lot GLS - if there was a different part number sticker on the driveshaft I would have given them the benefit of the doubt - but it's a standard 2020+ GLE/GLS part.

A torn boot might be a comprehensive claim on your insurance.

That's an unlikely failure without a foreign object strike, or some other external force.

If it's a manufacturing defect, it's unlikely to happen again.

Hope it's corrected with little fuss.

It's split at the metal band - looks like it was simply cinched too tight on install.

Turns out there are no driveshafts or boots for any GLE 53, GLS 63, or Maybach from 2020 onwards.. probably going to put some 5200 on it for the time being and deal with it when parts are available.
