Hey folks. I was thrilled today to receive in the mail a recall notice #23V-880 for my 2022.GLS 450. Apparently, the plastic impeller in the fuel pump on this vehicle can swell when immersed in hydrocarbon and begin to rub on the pump casing. The recall notice indicates that there are not yet any repair parts available to make this repair. I'm planning on taking my car across the country on a trip later this spring and I'm wondering if this might impact me. Has anyone had this problem happen to their car, what were the consequences, and does anyone have any idea when repair parts might become available? I would imagine that getting a repair slot at a dealership once these parts are available will be quite difficult because as far as I can see this campaign affects at least 150,000 vehicles. Thanks for any information and advice you can give.

I have two vehicles impacted by the recall - so far, it appears to be rare enough that I would not hesitate to drive either car anywhere. If they were failing left and right, we would know about it here and in the media. Agree, it is annoying to have to deal with it - and it will be a royal headache when parts are available.

This is a key reason why I didn’t replace my 2014 E with another new MB. You can not tell me there are no parts available to fix a recall, while you’re still making new cars with the corrected part. Just like the seat cover issue. I wait 4 months for a passenger side seat cover, yet the lot is full of 2024’s that have the new seat cover. It’s just another example of how badly MB treats its customers. My neighbor who comes from a European automotive family, calls MB the Buicks of Germany. Believe he’s right in several regards…
