No AC power outlet?

No AC power outlet?
For the first time I found myself in need of a AC outlet. Imagine my shock when I couldn't find one. Was this always the case with the new GLS? I thought it was standard on most cars these days

With other technical advancements, I can see the benefits of change... For example, no longer offering a CD player, or switching from USB-A ports to the newer USB-C. Those all make sense, because the the previous technology has been superseded.
However, with regards to the household outlet... we're all still using those! So, it's a step backwards, IMO.

Eh, might save some a tiny bit of money, but as noted, they've replaced it with the 2 100 watt usb-c ports, so wiring and everything still has to be there. I think this is more of a "modernization" For many things, it is probably actually an improvement because you can power tablets and laptops directly with a cable without needing to bring an AC adapter, so for that purpose it works great. However, if you want to bring a console game or recharge the cordless drill batteries, it's for sure the wrong direction and now you need an inverter to do so.

To be honest it's not that big of a loss. Small 120v inverters (~150 watts) are inexpensive. To be honest what you really want is a way to get a 48v inverter. That would provide you with far more power capacity than 12v. 20 amps x 12 volts = a max of about 240 watts assuming perfect 12 -> 120v efficiency. That same 20 amps at 48v would be ~960 watts with a quality 48v inverter. Another benefit of selecting your own inverter, you can source one that outputs a pure sine wave.

Didn't think it would be hard to find a USB-C, but apparently it doesn't exist. There are plenty of inverters that run off of 20V DC, with just a positive/negative lead input, so you can solder that right to a USB-C cord and it should work. Alternatively, you can put a battery in between for something like: https://www.omnicharge.co/products/omni-20
However, since the 12-Volt plug still exists, the easiest/cheapest solution is to get an inverter off the 12 Volt socket since those things are plentiful.

There are no USB PD -> 120 VAC inverters because the output will be severely limited. Even the best inverters are not 100% so you will be limited to something less than 100 watts of AC power to use. That isn't much.
If you really want to do it you can get a capable of 100W output. Then an inverter that will work with 20 VDC to connect to it.
What exactly are you trying to run that needs AC power?

Yes, I should have explained that since I have found only one 12V/auxiliary source so far back in the vehicle it is not an ideal setup
Somehow converting the power toward the front of the vehicle would be ideal
Thank you for your help

You don't have the front 12-volt? Should be under a flap by the front USB ports. Not sure if the 24s did something different and its not there.

Or you can wire in a pigtail into a front row area fuse block, and plug in your inverter there. There's usually a 12V outlet somewhere in the center console accessible from the second row seating area that could be convenient.
