Another noise, another thread…

Pretty much since I got the new GLS, I noticed it makes this unpleasant low pitch noise from rear wheels when driving slowly in parking lots and alike. It sounds as if two rough surfaces are continuously robbing/rolling on each other (yes, I suspect it’s from the brake pads/rotors). I’ve heard it when moving forward or reversing and I do not have to be depressing the brake pedal to make it happen (and haven’t notice much difference when braking). I haven’t heard the noise as I drive normally in the streets but not sure if the noise is gone or just masked by the road noise. My gut feeling is that it’s some “safety” feature that is engaging the brakes halfway in anticipation of a sudden need to stop. Anyway, anyone else have heard a similar noise coming from rear wheels in their truck?

Could be the parking brake? If the parking brake motor failed, it would have sent a message on the screen. What if you turn on the service mode options and retract the parking brakes? if you drive after that, does it still make noise?
