Hey, I’m posting for my mother, but she got a GLS450 about a year ago but hasn’t once used the dashcam. Today she was parked and someone shot out the back window with a airsoft gun. I know the car has cameras and a dashcam, but:
1. Does the car have a camera that faces backwards that could record someone doing this if they just drove/walked by?
2. Does the camera record even when parked and turned off?
3. If yes to both, how would I find the footage? I assume either contact Mercedes or find it in the app and woul appreciate someone walking me through that.
4. How much would it be to replace it? We have insurance but I wanna know what the base cost would be just in case somehow it’s not covered.

You don't say how old the car is. In our 2024, the OEM dashcam requires a USB stick to be plugged in somewhere for it to record. It overwrites when the USB stick is full. It only looks/records forward when the Ignition (engine?) is running.
If you do have footage, it's in the Apps section of the MBUX screen on the dash.
Can't help you with the window cost, I'm afraid.

2. Nope
You need to have a USB drive plugged in and you need to set the camera to auto record. Sounds like neither was done so you're out of luck.
