AR and mbux high after market worth it ?

Reading through the forums and looking to upgrade anything I see in my new to me 2021 gls580.
MY car doesn't have the mbux high or the AR package .
Is that worth it to get after market ? What all features do you get with it ? I see
1. AR navigation
2. Full screen driving screen navigation
3. Any safety features ? I already have the assisted driving package.

Do you find the features useful ?
I did see some MB circular to retrofit AR in early 2021, but it may apply to folks who had already paid for the package ? - someone can confirm

1. IMO the AR NAV is just a party trick, and less useful in complex intersections.
2. I use my instrument cluster for more information that the Full Screen disables. A Mini NAV screen in the cluster, duplicating the center screen, isn't useful to me.
3. Can't answer.

I am not sure anyone can answer this question for you. It is quite subjective.... Do you use MBUX navigation maps? if so, then AR is VERY nice and useful. If you use CarPlay, then maybe not so much. The biggest update though in my view is that fact you can have factory dashcam this way (or can add one), and that would be my priority with the high-end.

The other reason why I would get MBUX high is the fast processing and better CPU with the high-end compared to Med-spec. I can share detail but the short summary (and I have experienced that myself with both units for my car) is that MBUX high is notably smoother and faster as you swipe windows/screens/etc.

Other than this, like I said the rest is subjective. I personally like the full screen map in the driver screen. I also like to use it for highway trips; while keeping carplay screen on the other one.

For retrofit, I have posted about other benefits in one of my own threads, including other benefits to get full screen carplay all together as you upgrade from mid to high if you get it from the same source i used (Elebest) that I references in my thread.
Here is direct link (post #141) to take you directly to the final conclusions: https://mbworld.org/forums/gls-class...ml#post9114471

I think he's asking for opinions. Which are, by definition, subjective.

In addition to my Party Trick comment, AR NAV takes my eyes off the road far too long, especially with angled or multiple intersecting streets.
Don't want to rely on the car having to emergency brake for me.🤕

Head Up display is more important, for those reasons. Intersections are more clearly displayed and interpreted.
IMO as before.

Yes, more of folks experience and opinions

Does the built-in dashcam include front , rear and side camera recordings ?

Looking to understand safety benefits , if any with that additional front facing camera.

I just did the fitcamx front and rear install which is as close to OEM as it gets.

So worth it.

I just purchased the module from Elebest and it is so worth it. However, I got an offer to trade in my car that I will no longer have the need for it, so I am going to sell the module. The wireless CarPlay, the full screen CarPlay, the intelligent head lights, all so worth it.

Have folks seen any difference between rjautomotive and elebest. Both seem to be well reputed, but not sure if they are different in any way ? Or licensed/authorized differently.

Thought module is tied to VIN?

They both are selling factory OEM original headunit, so no concerns in my view as far as the quality of the hardware you choose. However, I went with Elebest and would still do so now for two reasons: Elebest adds to his MBUX high update also the full-screen carplay feature which nobody offers from what I can tell; 2nd he is a forum sponsor here if that matters to you, at least there is that motivation on his end to provide high level of support for forum members here to staining the reputation. I think you can't go wrong with either of them in the end and I wouldn't trust anyone other than them.

I stumbled on to one of their websites and saw the coding for the ILM headlights (just the coding, no hardware) was 999 Euros. Is that in line with what you spent?

You mean adaptive headlights ILS+ I guess? No that's too high. I'd send a private message to the forum vendor/sponsor Max ( @EleBest ) and ask him about current pricing. I did mine a year ago and he was awesome.

Yeah that's incorrect. I mentioned it to him just a couple weeks ago. That higher €999 price is for something like the EQS with digital lights. He's easy to message via WhatsApp here: https://wa.me/6597335000
