Tuxmat Supertrunk or Lasfit?

We recently had to replace a ‘21 GLS 450 we bought in December thanks to a semi driver taking up more than his share of the road.

We replaced it with a ‘23 in Selenite Grey with black interior. I just installed a set of Tuxmats for all three rows, and am very happy with them.

So much so, in fact, that I am reconsidering the LASFIT cargo area protector I bought. I am wondering if I should buy the Tuxmat SuperTrunk instead.

Does anyone have experience with either of these? I’m very interested in the performance of each of these in these areas, in no particular order:

1. Appearance

2. Reliable attachment to the seat backs even when folding/unfolding/adjusting the seat forwards and back

3. Flatness of load floor with uniformity between sections

4. Ease of loading big or heavy items, sliding them across the mat surface without dislodging the mat

We had a similar Mercedes-branded product which never stuck well to the carpet on the 3rd row seat backs on our 2015 GL 450 that we drove from 2017 until it was totaled in an accident last November. Hopefully either the carpet in the newer car works better with the Velcro used in these mats.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Kevin
We only had this car six months at the time of the accident.

Sorry to hear about the accident, and I hope everyone is ok. I would love to see some pics of the Tuxmats installed. I considered them, but at the time I needed them, they did not have mats in stock for my car, so I got the weathertech mats. They fit really well and i have had no issues with them. They aren't the nicest looking though. I usually just use the AMG mats during dryer months since they look nicer. But the Tuxmats looked more stylish than the WT mats for sure.

Sorry about your new(er) to you vehicle. Hopefully, no one in the vehicle was injured.

We do not have experience with the LASFIT cargo area protector. We purchased the Tuxmat cargo cover for our 24 GLS and are very happy with it. It's a very clean look, which is one of the reasons we settled on Tuxmat. We wanted something that would fully protect the back of the 3rd row seats without having a cargo mat that would have to be completely removed if we needed the seats up. The mats are easy to clean and have held up well to our abuse. I'm a bit OCD and think they look great and uniform on the seats. It was initially a big concern for me.

No issues with mat movement from heavy loads or seat movement. We also have not noticed any issues with the slight gaps between the seats when moving loads around. Our only issue is with the plastic corner "buttons" on the mat, heavy items can occasionally get caught on them when pushed across the mat. For us, it's usually the ones located near the top of the mat that are an issue. As far as we can tell, they are just for appearances and easily re-attach.

Thank you. My wife’s knee banged into the steering column, and she had a stiff neck for a few days. (We visited the ER just in case) no airbags deployed. She was more upset about losing the car. We’d had trouble finding one equipped the way she wanted last December when we replaced here 2015 GL450.

I’ll try to remember to post or send photos when I get a chance. I’m away from home for another day or so—hopefully I won’t forget!

Thanks so much. That’s exactly the sort of info I was looking for. The Tuxmat SuperTrunk is more expensive, but I feel like it’s probably worth the extra cost.

That would be great on pics. I am curious about how well the Tux conforms to the interior curves, especially in areas of entry/exit. The WT mats are exceptionally good in retaining shape, hugging the vehicle curves, and catching a lot of dirt...at the cost of beauty lol. I have lots of kids and pets, and so having a third row that I can put up and down without moving a trunk mat sounds great as well. I have carbon interior with microfiber roof, and the WT mats make it look like a Dodge truck lol.
