Nothing that I'm aware of in terms of protection. Just cleaning it, especially the driver's seat bottom bolster that you'll slide over in/out. You can get some blue jean transfer on the seat cover. Comes off pretty easily however with a Costco microfiber towel soaked in hot water. This looks to be MBTex seat covering, you can clean it up pretty easily without worry. Not ashamed I've used everything from TSP diluted in the hot water, to 409 on ours in the past. No damage caused by the cleaning. Ours has been used extensively as a family hauler of kids and kid's friends, and a table shark Labrador retriever named Jack. Only damage we've ever incurred to the seats was due to manufacture defect in materials used in the first batch of MBTex seat covers (splitting) that has been fixed by MB.

MB’s of all kinds.
Clean it good and often. That is the key to keeping light color interiors clean for long term. I use Griots Garage products on all my cars. Seems to work well.our GLK is light color interior. It is holding up very well now for 10 years old.

If this is MBTex, you don’t need anything. In fact, applying anything on MBTex is a waste of money. You don’t need to condition them, and they won’t benefit from it as they are synthetic leather anyway. They clean up really well (VERY well). All you need is a microfiber towel with any leather cleaner. I prefer the (Leather Honey) brand or the ONR solution with water, and if am not exaggerating, my garage table probably has over a dozen of different leather care bottles and brands that I tried over the years. Leather Honey and ONR cleaned the seats the best, and they were the only true scent free products that don’t also leave oil shinny residue on the surface. MBTex cleans like magic anyway even with just warm water. The only car that cleans the same way was my white/cream Tesla seats, but they were also vegan leather. I will always opt for MBTex over basic Nappa leather in a family SUV. The leather holds very well, but there were some issues with early 2020, 2021, and some 2022s splitting that got fully fixed in 2023s.

If you have the base Nappa leather or the upgraded semi-aniline one as in the AMG models (which from your car seat seams, it doesn’t seem to be the case), you’ll need a conditioner. I think yours are Nappa as I see 2 seams. In my opinion, ceramic coating for the interior is an overkill. Frequent cleaning should be sufficient. If you really need ceramic, your choice of light interior was probably not a good choice then to begin with. For real leather, there were many reports on the ceramic coating causing the leather to crack up over time because it reduces its ability to get conditioned and moisturized.

I have the Griots leather cleaner. It’s creamy, and I like the dome shaped cap, but my only complaint is the smell it leaves in the car even after a 2nd clean wipe. What I like about Griot is the Ceramic 3-1 Wax once a month, and the new Ceramic Speed Shine as a drying aid after every wash. Leaves my car paint in perfect condition all year long.

Quick question regarding the Macchiato interior. Does it show a lot of dirt and transfer a lot from skin oils onto places like the arm rests clearly? I have an X7 with the ivory white interior (super bright white) and it does transfer oils fairly easily, but not hard to clean with the right product. I know MB-Tex won't have this issue but how does the nappa leather or whatever the upgraded leather Mercedes uses nowadays hold up?

I had Ivory Full Merino on several BMWs recently, and the Macchiato MBTex in the GLS. The MBTex does NOT transfer or show skin oil accumulation (doesn't get shiny even in spots you touch all the time)... stays "dry" and new-looking ALL the time. However, MBTex still transfers dye from jeans and clothes just as fast as Full Merino... You really need to wipe the seats at least once a month to keep them looking brand-new.
I had semi-aniline leather in my W222, and Nappa in another, and they both would turn shiny in areas like arm rest on summer months if not cleaned frequently. MBtex will always be better for that matter.

Interesting. My 15 ML has a grey interior and I've never conditioned or cleaned the seats and there's no sign of blue jean transfer or dye transfer.

I think you misunderstood my point. yes, dye will transfer but it’s still extremely easier to clean the MBTex even with just a water dampened towel, unlike Nappa or semianiline leather. I also had the MBtex in two of my previous GL SUVs and now in the GLS. They are all very easy to clean. Blue jeans will transfer regardless, it’s just unavoidable, but MBTex makes it very easy to clean cause it just doesn’t absorb the dye at all.

That looks like the leather option not MB Tex.

I have tried interior ceramic coatings and have been less than enthused. I would reccomend Koch Chemie Leather Star for leather and Top Star for MB Tex. Its not about "conditioning" either, its about having a protectant on the surface that will help to resist dye transfer. I use Geist leather & vinyl cleaner and, and if you treat the leather with Leather Star or MB Tex with Top Star it will stay looking new for a long, long time,

Cleaner for either leather or MB Tex:

I like these Autofiber pads for cleaning:

My wife has the same interior. She just loves that color; it's all over my house. We have a large golden doodle so she just covers everything with throws or teaches Gatsby to stay off. In her car, she sits on a throw. We had a Gle350 with the same stuff. Just out of warranty, we noticed the mb-tex on the driver's side had split when we took it in to trade. $500 ouch on that , so check your seats often.

The console cover looks interesting. Do you have the Warmth & Comfort package with the heated armrest/console? If so, what is impact of using the cover? I'm concerned that having the console covered might cause an overheating issue.

I have pinnacle trim and yes these covers may slow down the effectiveness of the heat, massager function also seems little less intense, but those were the things i don't mind when it comes to saving the beauty .

Personally I would just enjoy the interior of the car. You bought it to enjoy it, I don't see the sense in covering it all up to protect it for the next guy.
