I just noticed in settings for me just now that you can now connect your iPhone or any phone hotspot to the MBUX NTG 6.0 system, before I remember you need to subscribe to a plan from T-Mobile in the infotainment system. I tried connecting to my phone and it works! Finally. Though sadly it's not useful since I tried going on the browser app and on YouTube and videos always bring up a Playback Error.
Does anyone else have this Playback Error issue when watching any videos? Perhaps it's just software limitations on the browser. At least Tune-In radio works in the FM menu.
That'd be great if true. However, am surprised though, why do you need T-Mobile subscription for the the infotainment apps/system to work? I thought that would be a part of the digital/remote-control app subscription?. Never tried in my GLS, but in my BMW, I have full access to YouTube and other apps through just the remote-control app subscription. The only exception is the rear entertainment system that requires a different 5G e-sim subscription, but I fixed that by adding connecting a Google TV Streamer (4K) receiver that auto-connects to my phone hotspot. My phone automation is then set to follow this automation too (when Car Bluetooth or CarPlay is connected, turn on HotSpot) hence I do nothing.
Not sure, though the reason why I say T-Mobile subscription is because I go to FM menu and then on the top sub menus I see "FM", "AM", and "Tunein Radio", then from there I tap "Tunein Radio" and there's a button says "Forward to Provider" so I tap that and that's basically Online Radio. My system is a NTG 6.0 MBUX 1.0, the car came with the Mid spec head unit, not the MBUX High head unit. (Not sure if that has to do with anything). The only Mercedes-Benz apps are Mercedes me, Weather and Browser for me. (photo example below Oh that's cool to know about the automation auto activate hotspot when carplay/bluetooth is connected! Anyhow, besides that perhaps seems that it's a software limitation on the Browser app itself not able to play videos on the app.
