Picking up new 2026 GLS 450 today - January 29
of snow, that is making removal really tough.
I ordered the 22” wheels and, like many here, struggled to find all seasons for this climate. I was not going to drive the car off the lot with summer tires that will perform like hockey pucks on our snow covered roads. Will report back on the solution if it in fact works.
Dealership was only a few days off on their delivery estimate. Instead of Jan 20, it arrived on Jan 24. Still acceptable for me. Overall, aside from the tires, it’s been a good process.
I’ll say I’m amazed that there was no mention of tire size/winter-summer-all season consideration until I took what I’ve learned from the experts on this forum to the dealership for consideration. They would have let me take the car with summer tires, I think, if I hadn’t started a month ago to find a solution. So my thanks to everyone here on sharing their experiences and insights.
Happy to post pictures once she’s in her new home.
In most circumstances, we have to understand that dealers are not our friends.
As for the dealer, I mean thats how the car comes...not much the dealer can do about it.
Lots of learning to do on this new cockpit. The 2009 ML350 was pretty straight forward. Not so here. Still letting a lot of services (remote start, location tracking, etc) set up, hopefully fully functional by later this evening.
Something I never thought about until I looked under the hood with this new car was that there is no manual dipstick. It’s all monitored through the service menu on the primary display. Interesting.
Some pictures to share. More soon.
