Battery Registration for 2020 GLS 450

Battery Registration for 2020 GLS 450
I need to replace the 12V battery in my 2020 GLS 450. I want to do it myself but i am not sure if the battery needs registration after installed. I would like to connect the car to another 12V battery via jumping cables location in order to avoid losing any setting.

I replaced my '19 G550's OE battery when it was 42 months old and died on a cold winter day. As a precaution, I kept the car powered using an OBD adapter connected to my Noco genius 10. I never did any battery registration procedure, and the new battery has been fine for 3+ years. IMO, this battery registration b.s. is a complete hoax.

I disagree on the hoax aspect. On my 2014 E350, I had to register the new battery as well. I had a flicker in my lights when I tapped the brakes that didn’t go away with the new battery, until the car was told it had a new battery. Explained to me, the registering allows the computer to reset the alternator output level. As the battery ages, the alternator puts more toward the battery. I thought bogus too, until that fixed the flicker, and it sounded much stronger when it would start up from cold as well. That, was on a 2014. Compared to the tech in these GLS’s today, that 2014 might as well of been an Amish buggy.
