Bad bearing?

Bad bearing?
The GLS developed an odd sound today on the way home from Costco. Sounds like a bad throw-out bearing in a standard transmission car or a bad electromagnetic clutch in an AC compressor. Not affected by engine RPM or transmission speed or gear status.
Anyone else have any ideas? It’s in between the engine and the rear diff. Not coming from the front of the engine like an accessory issue or belt tensioner bearing failure.

When I noticed this sound yesterday, the vehicle was in raised mode, but when my wife returned the vehicle to regular ride height she said the sound was not there when was on the morning school run. I'm wondering if the air pump is the culprit. The car doesn't have any leak-down issues.

I’m going to share a secret about owning a MB. Your mind will tell you it’s probably the worse case scenario, fear of pending doom at the repair shop. And not to say that doesn’t happen. But most of the time, it’s actually something pretty common for many cars regardless of brand. My point - don’t panic…. Been down this road a few times (and yes, my old W212 picked my pocket for about $6k in repairs along the way), but it was never as bad as my mind initially thought..

2021 580 with 36k.
you are correct that it’s easy to unnecessarily stress about new sounds in a “new” vehicle. I’m still building trust 😊 with all this technology. All of my previous Mercedes didn’t even have OBD2
I’m not too worried about repairs as we have CPO for the next year and an extended warranty to 100k.
