abakja1 05-10-2009 05:51 AM

vision808 05-18-2009 06:50 PM

Wow...Hawaii regional forum! Awesome! I actually only know of 2 other enthusiasts on the island.

Checking in here - didn't realize a HI sub-forum existed!

I wonder if the owner of the black E350 w/AMG badges all over it that I see downtown and driving to East HNL will post here as well...

classic! i seen that guy on queen street on day in traffic. I had to pull next to him with the real deal. He must have been shame!

do any of you guys have any recs on detailers for routine wash and wax in honolulu. I've been to capones and they did a decent job, but was wondering if there was someone better. thanks.

dpavid 06-01-2009 12:48 PM

i go to 20 20 auto detailing.

SteveHI 06-02-2009 04:08 PM

I used Hawaiian Island Auto Detailing at Restaurant Row when I had a serious waterspot problem on a black Infiniti I owned a few years back. He did a very good job and uses high quality products.

If you want your car to really look good, it takes multiple cleaning and polishing steps to remove all of the fine scratches, waterspots, etc. - a routine wash and wax won't do it. A synthetic sealant like Zaino will last a long time and provide a nice, glassy shine, whereas a carnauba wax isn't as durable but gives the deep, wet shine.

I generally hand wash my cars myself weekly, and polish/wax semi-annually with my orbital buffer and Pinnacle products.

Go see Mike at door to door detailing. He did a does a great job on my cars right before shows.

m8cme 06-06-2009 10:10 PM

thanks for the recs. i'll check them out.

Excellent.

I've heard that one of the salepeople at the dealership readily gives out badges to buyers who walk in asking, "which car is the best?" The sales pitch goes something like, "I can save you $XX thousand, and will throw in the badges because that's the only way anyone can tell the difference." :slap: Not to generalize, but he targets a very specific demographic in Honolulu...

dpavid 07-11-2009 04:17 AM

jack1560 07-20-2009 05:25 PM

jt808 08-05-2009 05:22 AM

Any Mercedes/AMG guys attend Cars and Coffee on the second Saturday of each month? Seems like all the lux brands come out except MB.

jack1560 08-05-2009 05:05 PM

where is that?

jt808 08-05-2009 08:21 PM

Pier 38 near Nico's Restaurant. They usually meet up at around 8 a.m.

where to tint

do any of you guys have any recs on tinting places. i am thinking about going to T&T since they're the only one on island who has the pinnacle ceramic tint. i am also uncomfortable in the fact that they may need to take apart the door panels to tint the windows. any thoughts? thanks.

jt808 08-28-2009 04:51 PM

I usually go to Pro Tint. They also take the panels off but do an excellent job. So far, they've done my C63, ISF, and a friend's 335i and IS350. They use ceramic film that most people on the board say is better than formula one film. If you'd like a referral for a discount just pm me.

dpavid 08-29-2009 04:05 AM

ace glass tinting only because they have the huper optik tint film. Best film by far but it comes with a premium price. Ask for a demo with the heat lamp. You'll be sold in seconds.

Anyone go to the car show this weekend? 1 AMG S55, 1 E500, and 2 M3's. Where the rest of the M-Series and AMG crowd at? Anyone planning on attending HIN and actually putting your AMG in? I'm thinking about it...

jt808 08-30-2009 07:20 AM

I went on Saturday night. I usually hang out with the Club Lexus guys and went to support some of them. My dirty IS F was also the Adam's demo detail car. Euro cars are definitely under represented at shows. I intend to keep my C63 stock so no chance for me at HIN. It would be nice to see another AMG at HIN though!

500eguy 12-13-2009 04:58 PM

Hey guys, good to see a hawaii regional section for MBs, finally! we should all of a GTG one of these days.

Hawaii here

Hey there, I just left the BMW realm and I've been an owner of a Black CLS55 AMG. I've been in Iraq for the past 5 months, so Wife has been the primary driver:eek:. Back for 2 weeks. I've always serviced my cars myself, but this is my first Benz. and since I'll be gone, wife must take care of it. I've heard of and know of the mark up at stealer-ships, what are the recommended service locations were wife can bring car in without worry and get quality work/service if need be? I saw one post in a search for a-1 euro auto..howzit?
