w203 r171 ALL SILVER Steering Wheel Buttons (Meaning silver housings!)

Hi, I made two sets of these and this spare set has been sitting in a box...if anyone wants it - shoot me a PM and give a fair price! Thanks, Jake

(Broke it all down, cleaned it, prepped it after a media blast - color matched the silver with PPG and painted housing silver.)

Reviving an "ancient" thread here, but how did you do that? I've debated on buying the carbon fiber decals on ebay to cover the peeling housing beneath the buttons. But this.. it looks authentic! IMHO, carbon fiber cheapens the looks of most MB.

1. What type of paint did you use?

2. Did you have to take apart the housings themselves to paint evenly around the buttons or did you meticulously tape all buttons off before applying the paint?

Thanks.

It's PPG. Straight auto grade...with hardener. Sprayed with a SATA mini after media blast, wash prep, prepsol and then plastic promoter...

These were completely disassembled to be painted correctly, i.e.wet applications through hole and on all edges...

Still have a spare set too...

Btw, norsk, just use 92% rubbing alcohol and rub off all the "soft touch" coating from the housings. You may not even need to recoat them afterwards.

@VVF, I was thinking about doing that! To be honest, sounds like an easier/efficient solution. That "soft" rubber is garbage...
