Had a run with an M Coupe!
Thought I would share this one with you guys. I bet it was cool for the other drivers seeing two sweet cars coming by at ridiculous speeds at night!!
AmGbOy (You gotta love the power of an AMG!!)
As for the M Coupe I am not sure what year it was it but I think it was the 315 hp version. After looking at the performance abilitys of the M Coupe I realized I got lucky. I dont think that the young guy in the BMW was comftorable reaching the speeds I was at. I think with a good driver I would have got my *** handed to me. But I didn't and it was a very fun race!

btw how do you tell if it is a 315 hps version from the 240 hps version?...if there were two park together i couldn't tell the difference. is there a noticeble change betweeen the two?
i only know that the 315 hps model have more color to choose from.

You can tell the difference with the rims. Also if you look inside the car the speedo will be different. It will say M power in the M-coupe and will have some color

thanks man...but i was talking about id a 240 hp version M-roadster from the 315 hp version M-roadster
Does it pull hard all the way to the limiter kicks in?
If slammed from a stop light it will go all the way up to 6000-6100 rpm. Amazingly acceleration is very linear so the pulling efect doesn't feel as hard, but watch the speedometer needle go up very fast, that is a cool feeling!

240 hp version was a 140 mph car or something? If it was the older version then it would have been further behind than you say.
Also due to its' bad aerodynamics M Coupe/Roadster accelerates worse at high speeds and 240 hp version probably would have lost to you long before reaching those speeds.
What's the top speed of an unlimited stock E55?
- The new and old M Coupes are very hard to distinguish from each other from the outside. The only changes that are noticable are unlikely to be detected unless you really know these cars! The first change is that the new wheels are a shade darker than the old ones -- both silver in appearance, but it's slightly darker and more metallic in the newer cars: "chrome shadow." It's the same shade as the M3 and the M5 wheels. The more obvious change is that the badges are now curved, as opposed to the flat ///M badge found on the previous cars. Other changes are gray faced gauges, slightly different badging on the inside, colors available exclusively to the new motor (Smurf Blue and Urinary Tract Infection Yellow come to mind), and, of course, the phat motor under the hood.

- Both the old and the new M Coupe have 155 mph speed limiters.
- At those speeds, it's very possible that the generally slower E55 would out accelerate the M Coupe. The reason is that the M Coupe isn't exactly the slickest car in on the street. Its aerodynamic drag coefficient is fairly high, so while it can out run the M3 and the M5, the other two cars catch up at over ~ 120 mph. Also, the slushbox of the E55 actually greatly benefits the car as it shifts at higher speeds, as there is constantly a force opposing the drag. This is apparently one of the reasons why the SL55 is very fast between 100-180 mph.
- There are only about 650 new M Coupes in the country as compared to about 2,000 older M Coupes. Odds are that you ran into an older one, but you never know.
