improving take-off

I am going to a quarter-mile track in a week or two. My question is what can I do and what should I do to get the best time on the 1/4 mile? Should I hold the brake down and rev the rpm's to about 3,000? Someone also told me if you turn the heat on full blast will help...something about releasing heat from the engine...is there any truth to that?
What is the MB's listed time for the CLK430 in the 1/4 mile?

Thanks for any help

The best advise from me is to lose those 18" rims. With them, you can expect to run in the 15's or maybe in the 16's...no kidding. The CLK430 in stock form is capable of running high 14's or more like 14.7 sec. Good luck at the track.

He's right about the rims. Also, you probably don't want to rev TOO high when power-braking, but I'm honestly not sure what the power delivery on a CLK is like (only driven a CLK55 twice).

As far as the heat thing goes: total BS.

All of them, as much as I can...
Although many tuners say going to larger tire/wheel package could hurt ETs, my switch to 19's improved it. True, the larger rims/tires weigh a bit more than stock; but perhaps the added traction offsets the weight disadvantage, especially on the CLK55 with all that power. Not to disagree with AV2 and bobafett, since I haven't done a comparison. I did GTech runs after I put 19's on and got better than book numbers.
My biggest challenge was avoiding spinning at launch. The best result I got was by revving to 1500 brakes on, ESP off, gear on 4, then release and smooth depression of accelerator then keeping it floored. Oh, and higher front tire pressure and considerably less on the rears. Normally 42F/40R, 46F/30R. Take your spare out.
Good luck! Are you going to Westhampton or Old Bridge? I'm out East this weekend (13th-15th). I'll watch your spare tire and rear seats while you run

About "Power Braking," don't ever rev it to 3000rpm, you will break your tranny. I did a couple of runs like that in my MX6 (V6), and the tranny didn't last. You might be able to just rev it to 1500rpm, but I wouldn't take the chance.

raise the edges on your tires by spining them a little before running
