Talking C55 vs. XJR

So I'm behind a XJR at a light tonight. It turns green and the Jag takes off, taking me by surprise. I jump on the gas, and by the top of first he's not gaining on me anymore. By the top of second, I'm reeling him in. With the supercharged engine and aluminum body, I thought those things were pretty quick.

We're sort of an oasis. Highest per-capita income in the southeastern US, 2nd largest research park in the country, largest concentration of PhDs, etc. Couple that with LOW cost of living, and a lot of people drive nice cars. With the equally US-leading concentration of rednecks, a whole lot drive nice trucks as well.

Yeah, I spend a lot of time on the west coast, mostly in the bay area. Everybody drives either a p-car/MB/etc or a Prius. Every once in a while I'll see a big @$$ truck and think I'm back home again.

XJRs have been running 390hp at the flywheel for years now. C55 today is the previous gen 349hp, yes?. However, the Jag is pretty heavy. Who knows.

I gotta say, I test drove an XJR off lease about 4 years ago on a highway. The salesguy urged me to punch it, so I did. I actually wasn't impressed with the pull on that thing (and this was before the E55 bumped up the HP by another 120). A good car if not beaten to a pulp by the original owner, but too heavy to compete. And I only mention that because an 80k loaded XRJ will rot on the lot at 45k after 2 years. Anyone buying them new just burns money.
