And yeah, those A4s are crazy! My son has an A4 '06 2.0T, and he caught interest in the subject upon mentioning it to him, he said two things:

1. He already killed a C230

and...

2. Do you know any sites or have any info on well-reputable tuners for Audi?

He says he called Mike from EVOsport down here who referred him to a company called Powerchips or something "chips" which is currently working on a ECU remap for the A4 but it wont be ready until March. He wants something now... anything you know of?

I know the old A4s have a LOT of stuff but the new one (06)... not so much.

Short answer, yes. But since the 2.0T engine is so new, the tuners are going to take a while to catch up making products for it. For now, he might want to do that APR stage 1 upgrade and get some wheels and suspension for it. Here are some links.

Anyway, to this matter I just find it a bit alarming that the C230 line in this thread just gets stepped all over by people with either: a) a higher budget and b) which leads to people who are lucky to have a larger displacement vehicle. Most surprising is that it seems we're "looked down upon" in not having a respectable enough MB to this crowd. Don't you guys ever observe our W203 forum and how it's bustling with activity about trying to modify anything in the engine bay? Now that some us are "this" close to getting even more bolt on mods and support from big name tuners (i.e. Kleemann) doesn't that show that there is massive interest in getting the car to be quicker? It's crazy how much heat we get about "staying in our place" with this car, haha, especially within the same crowd.

I think 99% of us who own C230 realize the car isn't as fast as we'd like it, but we tend to be more reserved and do what we can with the car to give it an extra edge (because we know it's not a C55.. yet ). We also enjoy that we are driving the MB brand and for some of us it's our first MB and I'm sure we'll all move up in the future.

I don't see the wrongness in pulling on VR6s or A4s either, then again I'm not exactly bone stock either. I could probably post another kill story on a Honda VTEC yesterday night in the city but deny myself countless times to not receive this kind of reprise all over again. I actually would enjoy a little friendly display of speed vs. tedypedy as well. Speaking of the 'ol coupe - where the hell is Tom/nukblazi? - he could probably tell us all about it.

Anyway, hats off to the fortunate, I'm gonna go find a broken violin to play off my sorrows.

Hmmm, i would say not. An A4 2.0T is much more of a car than a C230. As is a 330...

I would equate the C230 to BMW's old 318ti. Yeah it has the same name as the other cars in the line, but it just aint the same as the rest of the line...

The fact of the matter is this, just as every other Mercedes owner can vouch; I don't care if I win a race by 9 car lengths, or stall on the line, becuase at the end of the day, I'm the one parking MY mercedes in MY garrage. Regardless, no offence to yourself, but I don't believe a C230 will outrun an A4. I could be wrong as I've never driven a C230 and HAVE an A4, but unless a video is posted the incontrovertible proof, mainly the dyno graph & magazine(s), points to TP being a liar and the C230 being slower than the A4; stock or otherwise.

I'd love to see a video though. That's probably the only way to figure out which is faster.

 

I have to agree here. I'm unbiased in reading this thread, but TP, you really do sound rediculous trying to defend a C230 as a fast car. It is not and never will be. Sounds like a lot of ricer talk to me. Especially that comment about the weight difference. I don't know how old you are, but just because you drive a slow car does not make you less of a person so stop acting like you are being personally insulted when people are telling you the facts.

 

I don't know how many all inclusive posts I can make but saying the C230 isn't slow is not saying that it beats SLR's there is middle ground that it seems most of the posters here cant grasp. A stock C230 has 192hp and a stock RSX-s has 200hp (some ricer facts for you). I've seen recorded times of a stock RSX-s doing low 6's to 60 (which beats the 330 and A4) and the torque on the benz is much higher than that of the RSX. People say the 330 is fast but the C230 is not...ok...good for you. I don't have a stock C230, I do have videos of races and I was in a DVD for DVInsight with a few A4's among other cars.

Ok I'm not insulting you here but I have to say this. I saw your mod list and I don't see any big upgrades. I see a filter, an exhaust, a pulley, and an intercooler. Now if you think these mods make your car significantly faster, you're sounding like a ricer. The c230 is not a fast car. I don't know why you're talking about RSX's, 330's, and A4's. These are all four-bangers. The video you're referring to also sounds like it only has ricers in it. How about real cars like Vettes, AMG's and anything with a V8 or larger. Those are fast cars.

 

Chi, the 330 is an I-6. But TP also made a mistake in its stats, it will beat an RSX-s to 60 (5.9 sec). Ive also played with some RSXs and wasnt too impressed

Well Lex, I got some footage for ya tonight. Once again, I took the A4. And ofcourse my luck would have it, a VR6 happen to find us on the highway tonight. This time, he took me, so I've come to the conclusion that either the other guy missed a gear, or just sucks at driving. But as for the A4, that ones in the books. Ill be sure to send you the video evidence as soon as I can get it on my pc ( I am on dial up till the end of the week, so uploading is a *****) Ill have it for ya as soon as I can.

 

What year was the A4 you took?

 

I raced a VR6 and he beat me pretty bad, the guy said he just had intake but he was beating alot of cars that no1 thought he should be beating. It turned out he was using nos Haven't raced ones since....but I raced one of those new R32's and even with a head start he beat me from a rolling 45-110mph easy. The VR6

 

46 325i is also a I6 car, even the E46 320i is. maybe still to early for you. :p

 

Yah, how'd i miss that? My little sister has one. As for the 330's merit. I can understand how one might question a 330i's merit, but a 330Ci (w/sport package) is a pretty strong car with the 6-spd.

 

didnt they start upgrading the hp on the 330i's a cpl yrs ago? i recall reading it would get a power boost or somthing like that to make it more appealing as a sport car. My neighbor has a red one that was stolen right out of their garage in broad daylight. It was found later unharmed near palm springs a few hours away but the crazy part is that the 330i is by far the ****tiest car they own. This guy owns an enzo(red) and a carrera GT(silver), if his garage was open and all the keys are on the rack in the garage why not take one of the supercars!?
