Too heavy?
Manual transmission 3,447
Automatic transmission 3,493
265 hp @ 5,800 rpm
255 lb-ft of torque @ 4,400 rpm
His C Coupe is 3,635
221 hp @ 5,600 rpm
232 ft-lbs. @ 3,000 rpm
I'm going to say either he wasn't pushing it or doesn't know how to shift. The cars weight nearly the same and he has over 40 HP and 20 ft-lbs more.

Everyone knows Japanese cars have smaller horses. Might be more, but they're definitely smaller
Jokes aside, I've NEVER seen a real life driver replicate the low/mid 14's the magazines report on the Maxima.

I've been wondering about those newer Maximas. I had a '95, that while only having 190hp, still felt pretty quick. Very smooth engine that kept going strong even after I got rear-ended by a speeding Ford F350 super-duty (which pushed me into the next car, mashing the front as well).

1989 Toyota Tercel EZ - dyno'd @ 70whp/77wtq
That depends on the speed of the race.... if it's from low speed, I doubt a C320 could kill (not impossible as it also depends on the driver). If it's high speed (90+), C320 could kill.... Maxima's hp/torque curve is quite steep... so it usually runs out of puff quite quickly, while C320, like typical german car, has a flatter curve.
I think even my 4th gen maxima (95-99) could kill C320 from a dig... but after 60.... I won't be surprised if the outcome is opposite.

The maxima comes with a standard 5 speed auto gearbox with manual mode but has an available 6 speed manual shifter. I tested the 6 speed manual when I bought both my maxima and the altima. The dealer wanted way too much for the 6 speed but it felt quicker than the automatic. With both my nissan cars wind noise is a major problem. These cars are just not good for speeding. The altima SE on the other hand is a diferent beast all together. It's fast with a lowered suspension and bigger wheels and is designed for speed. I drive my altima in city runs and my wife drives the maxima as a daily driver. For the important runs, the S500.
