Thanks amgdriven! The driver of the M3 didn't know what hit him... he quickly learned the true power of the lightning-fast roundhouse. Sadly, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries...

either way it comes down to the driver for these types of races.
however the trap speed of a C55 is always been higher, meaning on the highway, C55 will always win (stock vs stock)
from a dig... with a good driver on a M3 comp... I take my chances on the M3
have you seen their rear tire set up? compared to our 8.5 / 245's..
but either way.. good kill and keep on representin'!

for $30k more I would ask for a C230
Anyways nice kill, always good to read about the E46 M3 going down!! (even if I do think they are great cars!)....
The M3 is overrated in its power department. It lacks the low-end torque necessary to beat the C55.
The M3's high compression V6 just doesn't seem to have the ***** to keep up.

I personally think its a great power plant... its been around almost 5 years. Meaning that its old news, but still powerful.
I could never understand how BMW always have less HP and torque and still deliver respectable numbers.
M3 is not beast, but its really good overall. I would love to own one, if I had an E55 AMG for my daily commute and the M3 as my week-end car.
many of our members have such cars in their stable... for the same reasons.
Very dangerous highway. . . if you race there, be careful.
3.2L V6 vs 5.5L V8??
And yet M3 still could catch up?? Big thumbs up for M3's..
Yea and the M3 driver was a noob, have you guys seen the video M3 vs C55? By one of our member here if im not mistaken. big WOW for the M3. And as for the price you cant go wrong.

Because if you are, then you're just helping to make my point.
Before the race, my buddy was able to take these pictures with his cell, and judging from his racing helmet I seriously doubt the driver was a noob.

Oh yeah, and when did I say that the M3 caught up? That's because it never did. Nothing you wrote makes any sense. Maybe it's the language barrier because you are a Canadian.

The C55's naturally aspirated 5.4L V8 is not as impressive as the M3's 3.2L I6. The C55 generates its power the old fashioned way, by using large displacement. Because of its large displacement, it is a torque monster and the power is accessible in the low-mid rpm range. It is a more relaxing and easier car to drive fast because the engine doesn't have to rev so high to get the acceleration. The C55 and M3 are very similar in their performance (both in a straight line AND ON THE TRACK WITH CURVES), but the cars feel very different subjectively for the driver.

Well said.
Give credit where it's due. The M3 I6 is a very admirable piece of engineering and so is the car as a whole. The BMW engine in the McLaren F1 is another naturally aspirated engine delivering >100HP per liter. Amazing, especially considering how long ago that was.
I think many of us here are car enthusiasts first, German car enthusiasts second and then MB enthusiasts, which IMHO is how it should be.
To give credit where it's also due, good kill story! Given the matchup, it is probably safe to say you are the better driver of the two
There was another thread I was reading where an E55 driver, by dint of superior skill, killed 2 996's on a track.
