Got smoked by a Beamer

I not sure which model, but I know it ends with a big red "R".

I have been reading lately on here how other members have done so well against bikes, so when I saw a BMW motorcycle, I couldn't resist to try out my luck. I knew the odds were against me, so I took a jump start. Because he was not suspecting it, I had the lead for the first 40MPH, but then I heard it spool up, and game over! He flew by me as if there was a four cylinder in my E500. For the first time, I felt the E500 is an extrememly slow vehicle.

I guess, I'll leave the races against bikes for you with the AMG supercharger under the hood, and I'll stick to 4 bangers, and mini-vans.

As compensation, I spanked another M3 at the weekend, twice from 70-140 I pulled 4-5 car lengths on the motorway

The trophy cabinet is begining to fill nicely

2 x M3
RS4 Wagon
Rs6 Saloon

All this from 315bhp!

Kudos for trying

In a straight line, even the AMG models will have trouble against the faster bikes. I would venture to guess that we will still see bike kill claims regardless, followed by bike enthusiasts asserting it could not have been a bike less than 10 years old

Among the 4-bangers, you might want to steer clear of any STI's and Evo's, LOL.

The R1200 are pretty quick and agile. The only way to beat them is to pull some crazy 2f2f stunt on them and they will slow down.

Yeah no biggee....not even sure if my 600hp would have done the job.

Only advantage we have is that the bike dude usually goes away *****ting his pants that it was even close.

Heh heh...always room for another E55'r. Come on in anytime you're ready!!

No way your 966 C2 would beat an M3 in a strait line. My dads old C4S would get beat up by the M3 and the C4S has more power than your C2. And a C32 AMG wont pull that much on an M3 its a drivers race. So either you had a nice race with your self or the M3 driver sucked very very very bad.

I get tards all the time when I am driving the M around town that will come up next to me at a light and rev and floor it spinning their tires then a bit down the road they turn on the hazards like I was racing them. I also get annoyed when I get tards that come next to me then just floor it and take off. The worst offenders are 350Z and G35 coupe drivers just for fun I had a go with a 350Z that kept bothering me and it wasnt even funny how bad he lost by.

The body does not look familiar, but the "R" at the end does. But, it was dark (10pm), so I can't tell for sure. Can a 163 hp bike destroy a 302 hp car (with a head start to boot)?

unless the driver of the bike was a mad fatty, I would wager a YES....think about how much your E500 weighs vs. how much the average bike + rider weighs. Anything over about 2k lbs (on your car) and you probably lose the power-to-weight ratio contest......plus gearing on top of that and your clutch

I thought C4S's were the slowest 996 due to their weight...I killed one (not by much) on the 405 in my SL??? Although I had a slight start and it was a straight-a-way or I would have been toast.

Bikers are nuts...I let 'em be...=)

C4s has more power than C2

mine is a 02 3.6 manual - autocar tested 0-60 4.6 0-100 10.2 in 2002

there are 2 M3`s out there that just watched me pull on them, these are euro spec M3`s with 343bhp.
The c32 was about even but this baby just pulls especially at 100+, small frontal area, light weight really count.

the reason bikes will almost ALWAYS trash a car is power to weight ratio. A good way to look at it is HP per ton. Think of it like a fraction. Put your HP in the numerator, and put you car's wieght in tons (most of us are above 1.5tons) in the denominator and divide out.

Example

Mercedes Benz E500
302Hp
1.906 Tons = 158.45 HP/Ton

BMW K 1200 R Motorcycle
163HP
.273 Tons = 597. 07 HP/Ton

With numbers like that, you are going to get SMOKED every single time.

Also, if you do the algebra, the rider on the bmw bike would have to weigh 1511 lbs to bring the HP/ton of the bike equal to that of the e500.

Every day of the week unless the rider is a complete dork. The bike is capable of low 10's.

163 hp for a stock bike is right near the top of the list.

some people dont know **** and still open their mouth.

the c4s has the same power and weighs more (by a considerable amount) it also has more drag cause of the wider bodywork and fatter tires

c2's are fast, i raced 1 a while ago and only after my car hit 3rd gear i pulled about 1/2 a length on him i was even the whole time.

You are right I didn't know they bumped the power of the lower end version that year. But still no way you can beat an M3 the way you talk. Its kind of like the C32 folks who say ow I put 4 car lengths on the M3 then you go to the M3 forums and they are the ones who put 4 cars on the C32, when in reality its a drivers race. The porsche is fast but the M3 has it beat in HP.

When it comes down to C2 vs M3 both will do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds both will do a 13.6 1/4 mile. I know that porsche engine well since I drove my dads all the time and I can tell you that it has crap for power until you hit over 4,000 rpm and even then it has almost no tq. I still think the M3 is the better car my dads C4s was $93 grand and the M3 was $58 grand. With as many problems as the M has had in quality and stuff breaking the porsche was no better it was eating a quart of oil a month but to be fair the M was in for SMG problems that took a while to fix a hydraulic pump broke.

I have attached some Porsche pics along with a pic of my ML just to show you that my dad had one and I am not some stupid kid who has never driven a porsche before. I cant find pics of the M on the computer but I will wash it and post some when I get around to it I used to have a few with all the cars in the garage together but I cant find that.

Your not hearing me

the C2 weighs 1340kg vs 1580+, it makes a BIG difference, I`m telling you based on outdragging 2 M3`s and an RS4 (04 model) and an RS6 (05 model).

Dont be too hung up on headline bhp figures

Go find one to race in your BM and then talk based on experience.

Sorry to hijack this thread BTW but this guy just irritates.

im with u on this 1, i got ur back

the porsche is way faster than its horsepower suggests.

a base c2 weighs in at LESS than 3000lbs.
a m3 is at LEAST 400lbs more

3450/333=10.36lbs/hp
3000/315=9.5lbs/hp
(and im being nice with the weight, leaning toward the m3, its more like 2950 and 3500)

not to mention the superior traction of the porsche and the lower drag

now stop irritating people
